Will DeMarco Murray get the most carries of his career?
DeMarco Murray is hot, trendy pick on the fantasy football market. He's even gone in the first round of some drafts although the second round is considered the "value" round for him. Perhaps no other player has so many contradicting conditions around him than the Cowboys running back. On the positive side of the ledger, he had his best season last year with 217 carries for 1,121 yards and 9 touchdowns. He was healthy for 14 of the 16 games, also the best of his career. While Jason Garrett has said Murray will be the leader of the running back committee, he also said he has bell-cow traits. The Cowboys have been talking all offseason about committing to the run. Plus, the Cowboys offensive line looks very good so far, meaning Murray could have room to run.
That all sounds good, but then there's the other side of the ledger. Murray gets hurt every year, so the bet will be he will miss at least some time in 2014. Also, as much as the Cowboys talk about committing to the run, they never do. With a defense that could give up a lot of points, the Cowboys could be engaged in the passing game more than they want. Scott Linehan as an offensive coordinator has leaned much more to the pass in his recent years in Detroit. Finally, there's the presence of Lance Dunbar, who the Cowboys definitely want to get involved on a regular basis.
DeMarco Murray's career-high is 217 carries in a season. So what do you say, will Murray set a career high with 250+ carries this season?
