Could Eric Berry be patrolling the Cowboys secondary?

The first week of free agency came and went without the Dallas Cowboys landing a safety; however, week two is typically when they like to get in the mix.

It was reported on Monday that Dallas was hosting Clayton Geathers for a visit, and apparently he’s not the only safety that they’re looking into. The Cowboys will host former Kansas City Chiefs safety Eric Berry for a visit on Tuesday.

This is some big news for the Cowboys as Berry is a big name and they’ve typically avoided those since, ironically, signing a different Chiefs secondary player in Brandon Carr seven years ago. Berry’s health battles are well-chronicled as he overcame Hodgkin’s lymphoma, but he’s only played in three games over the last two seasons.

Berry is 30 years old and could be looking for the classic “prove-it” deal that allows him to announce himself as still legitimate to the rest of the National Football League. Perhaps he and the Cowboys have some mutual interest in one another as their issues at safety are well-chronicled.
