The Cowboys brought in a special teams ace for the 2014 season.
The Dallas Cowboys continue to play small-ball in free agency; today they brought in a backup linebacker from the New Orleans Saints. Will Herring is a seven-year veteran in the league, he played his college football at Auburn, then spent his first four seasons with the Seattle Seahawks and the past three with the Saints. Herring is listed at 6-3, 241 pounds and will add depth to the linebacker corps, but is most likely on the team because of his special teams skills. He was the Saints team captain for special teams last year.
In seven season Herring has only started 10 games, 6 of those were years ago in Seattle. Last season he started one game, accumulated 13 tackles for the year and actually got one interception. But throughout his career it's been his special teams play that has kept him in the league.
Blessed to be playing in the Big D this year and to be a part of Cowboys organization!
