It's a mixed report concerning the Cowboys injury situation.

The bye week is over, the Cowboys are preparing for the New York Giants on Sunday. That means Monday saw a shortened workout by the club and gave us our first look this week at how the injury situation is progressing.

The good news is that safety J.J. Wilcox practiced for the first time in close to a month. Getting Wilcox back would be a nice boost to a Dallas secondary that was shredded by New Orleans. Jeff Heath look okay in a couple of games, but was totally exposed by the Saints. Wilcox return would help to solidify the back end of the defense. Also at practice was Jason Hatcher, great news for a defense that has been hammered along the defensive line. Hatcher has been the teams best defensive lineman all year and the Giants are a team that is suspect along the offensive line.

Unfortunately, DeMarcus Ware didn't practice, but that could just be a case of the Cowboys resting him and his quad. Ware actually finished the Saints game even though he was clearly bothered by the injury. The Cowboys are probably banking that two weeks without practice will be to Ware's benefit and allow him to play against New York. Morris Claiborne didn't participate either, his status is a little less clear. He hasn't participated in the past few games and has yet to practice. Dallas Could be resting him until later in the week, or he could just not be ready yet.

Miles Austin and DeVonte Holloman both participated in the shortened workout.
