There is some very good news for the Dallas Cowboys, Miles Austin returned to practice on Wednesday. The Cowboys starting wide receiver had missed two games but is participating in practice today, albeit in limited fashion. Even though Terrance Williams had a big game against the Broncos, Dallas could still benefit from having Austin's talents on the field. Last week Tony Romo and the offense found a way to use all their weapons, adding one back in with the skill-set of Austin could only help.

The bad news is that defensive tackle Jason Hatcher did not participate in practice. He suffered a stinger in the Broncos game and decided to sit Wednesday's practice out. Hopefully that is purely a precaution because the Cowboys desperately need his presence along the defensive line. As a group, the defensive line has been fading, Hatcher needs to be there or it could be in danger of falling apart.

Linebacker Justin Durant and defensive lineman Edgar Jones are both still out with groin injuries. Also missing was backup running back Lance Dunbar who is dealing with a hamstring issue.

In other injury news, Jerry Jones had this to say about the possible return of Jay Ratliff:

Owner/general manager Jerry Jones, who made the mistake this summer of declaring that he was sure Jay Ratliff would be ready for the season opener, is steering clear of any firm projections about the former Pro Bowl nose tackle’s return from the physically unable to perform list.

"I don’t know, and I don’t know that he knows," Jones said Tuesday on KRLD-FM. "I don’t know that anybody knows. He is beginning to work through on what we all hope is a secure injury area that has hopefully healed. I don’t know that. I can’t speak to that, and I don’t know that anybody does.

"We will painstakingly go slow here in trying to work him back in."

Not much to go on there but it sure doesn't make it sound like it's close.
