The Cowboys have issues at offensive tackle.
Jason Garrett gave updates on the condition of the Dallas Cowboys today, specifically covering the injury situation.
The Cowboys have issues at offensive tackle, but the good news is that Tyron Smith is expected to participate some in practice today. How much he can handle is still up in the air, but at least he is going to attempt it. His replacement, Chaz Green, will not practice today as he is hobbled with a sprained foot. The Cowboys might have to do some shifting around if Smith and Green can’t go this week, Doug Free might have to move over to left tackle, and Zack Martin could kick outside to right tackle. But that’s premature, especially if Smith can practice this week.
Dez Bryant likely won’t practice today as he continues to recover from the fracture in his tibia. He will probably only do resistance training on the side. The team still holds out hope that Bryant will be able to play this week.
Dan Bailey won’t kick today, he woke up on Sunday with back issues but still managed to kick in the game, although he did miss a 47-yarder. The Cowboys hope his condition improves as the week goes on. Surprisingly, Garrett said Jeff Heath is the backup kicker, not punter Chris Jones.
Orlando Scandrick will hopefully get more work done in practice today and this week, in hopes of playing this week.
La’el Collins had successful toe surgery yesterday and will go on IR. He and Charles Tapper both are eligible to come back at some point this season, although only one of them could, but the Cowboys don’t know if either will at this point.
