The latest news on the Cowboys injury issues.

Yesterday was supposed to be the day Dez Bryant got an MRI on his knee after he injured it in the Bears game, even though he returned to finish the game. Apparently that didn’t happen. Jerry Jones was 105.3 The Fan this morning and reported the following:

Speaking in a radio interview with 105.3 FM The Fan on Tuesday morning, Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones said Bryant had not yet undergone the MRI after suffering a knee injury in Sunday night’s 31-17 win against Chicago.

“He hasn’t taken an MRI, to my knowledge,” Jones said. “I’m assuming that he’s on go. But I don’t – will he get an MRI here, probably later today? Maybe.”

It’s a little unnerving that we can’t get any definitive idea of Bryant’s knee. Maybe later today we’ll know according to Jones.

“I don’t want it to sound anyway. I’m always concerned,” Jones said. “This is their day off, and we’ll monitor him through the day. It may be that later in the day he does an MRI, and if he does, we’ll give the results.”

Jerry did offer some more clarification on La’el Collins. In his view, it’s not as dire as the reports that came out last night. It’s hard to know if Jerry is just putting a positive spin on it, or the “source” that said 10-12 weeks and surgery for Collins was just wrong in his assessment.

Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones said guard La’el Collins is “less likely” to have surgery on his big toe injury suffered in last Sunday’s 31-17 win over the Chicago Bears.

There's a chance Collins misses extended time, but Jones didn't provide a timetable.

“It’s a pain thing and we’ll see how he tolerates it,” Jones said Tuesday on 105.3 The Fan. “He’s a tough, tough player and has a high tolerance for pain. He’ll probably not have surgery and see if he can work through this.”

Over at ESPN, they are reporting that Collins is seeking a second opinion in hopes of avoiding surgery, but they also quote a source that says pain tolerance has nothing to do with the issue.

Now Collins will seek other opinions before having the surgery.

A source told Werder that the injury had nothing to do with pain tolerance, which was asserted by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. "(It) has nothing to do with pain," the source said. "The kid is tough as hell. It's dependent on the injury."

Only time will tell what the real truth is on this one.
