Anthony Spencer is done for the year and is conceivably done forever in Dallas. He was on a one-year franchise contract, so once the season is over, he'll be a free agent. He could have very well played his last game for Dallas a couple of weeks ago against the Chiefs. Anyway, the Cowboys have a roster spot opening up since Spencer is going to IR.

Instead of singing a defensive end as was speculated in many places, or at least someone along the defensive line, the Cowboys have decided to add depth at the cornerback position. And this makes total sense. George Selvie has proven so far he's perfectly capable of manning the defensive end spot and the Cowboys have picked up some reserve defensive ends recently so they are currently set at the position. Meanwhile, they've been carrying four cornerbacks this year instead of a normal five and one of those corners, Morris Cliborne, is playing with an injury. Dallas needed a bit more depth.

Enter Chris Greenwood. He was a fifth-round pick of the Lions in 2012 and a guy the Cowboys had brought in pre-draft that year for a workout. He was currently residing on the Lions practice squad after not playing much in his rookie year because of injury.
