Slowing these two players down will be key to a Dallas victory.
The Chicago Bears passing offense has been a disaster so far in 2019.
But that isn’t because it lacks weapons on the offensive side of the ball. When turning on the Bears tape, it’s easy to see who’s to blame for the Bears lack of success. The quarterback. But coming off a couple of bounce back games, Mitchell Trubisky could be looking to turn the Bears season around before it’s too late.
While it’s been a disastrous start to the year for the third-year quarterback, two of his weapons at the wide receiver position have had very good seasons. Allen Robinson and Anthony Miller are dangerous weapons for the Bears offense and will give the Cowboys secondary fits on Thursday Night Football, it’ll be up to Trubisky to cash in on those opportunities.
Robinson, the Bears number one receiver, is on pace to have his second-best season as a pro. Leading up to tonight’s kickoff, Robinson has hauled in 71 receptions (eighth in the NFL), for 850 yards, and five touchdowns. Robinson has proved to be Trubisky’s go-to receiver through 13 weeks, but that doesn’t mean you can forget about Anthony Miller, the Bears 2018 second-round pick.

As of late, Miller has been on fire for the Chicago offense. After starting out extremely slow, Miller has combined for 21 catches, 271 yards, and is averaging 12.47 yards per catch in the last THREE weeks. While Miller has yet to find the end zone in 2019, he’s been a consistent weapon for the Bears offense over the last month of the season.
Both Miller and Robinson will line up in the slot at times tonight, but Miller is more of the traditional slot receiver that will draw more coverage from Jourdan Lewis. Robinson can lineup both inside and outside for the Bears and can be dangerous from both spots. While Robinson is more likely to hurt you with his size, physicality, and yards after the catch ability, Miller is a guy who can be a consistent chain mover due to his excellent route running ability in the slot.

The secondary for the Cowboys will have it’s hands full tonight, but with no real threat at tight end, running back, and with Taylor Gabriel out, their focus should heavily be on limiting Allen Robinson’s and Anthony Miller’s impact on this football game. It also helps that the guy throwing them the football hasn’t been all that great this year. If the Cowboys want to pull off a win tonight, on the road, against a tough Chicago Bears team, their defense is going to have to show up. Shutting down the Bears top two receivers could be the difference in a win and a loss.
