Things did not go well in Dallas yesterday. Here is the good and bad news for you to review.
Cowboys linebacker Damien Wilson arrested for aggravated assault with deadly weapon - DannyPhantom and Michael Sisemore, Blogging The Boys
There was a lot of bad news surrounding the Cowboys yesterday, starting with reports of another arrest. The full story is still emerging, but this one does not look good for Damien Wilson.
The Dallas Cowboys found out Wednesday morning that linebacker Damien Wilson was arrested over a dispute at the FC Dallas Game.
More information was released by an anchor for KRLD in Dallas, and it just makes it look worse.

This situation has to raise serious questions about Wilson’s future with the Cowboys. The team has time to research things before training camp and look for more linebacker help, if necessary, but based on what has been reported so far, Wilson may have destroyed his future with the team. And there is no real way to justify his actions.
Dak Prescott accused of using machine to sign autograph - Darren Rovell, ESPN
Until now, Dak Prescott has been the perfect face for the franchise. But Beckett Grading Services, which authenticates sports autographs, believes that a recent group of Prescott cards were done by machine and not the player.
The lack of natural flow associated with organic signatures led to Grad's conclusion that they were done by autopen, a machine that politicians have used to sign documents in bulk since the late 1950s.
"I immediately knew they were autopen," Grad said. "I've never heard of a modern athlete doing this."
It's possible that Prescott never saw the cards, as blank labels to be signed and even cards themselves are often sent to marketing agents first.
Darren McFadden's family members injured in Little Rock club shooting - Frank Schwab, Yahoo Sports
The holiday took a tragic turn for Cowboys running back Darren McFadden, who was in Little Rock visiting family.
Dallas Cowboys running back Darren McFadden, who was a superstar for the University of Arkansas, was seen outside Power Ultra Lounge early Saturday morning after a shooting that injured 25 people. According to the Associated Press, the shots came after dispute among clubgoers, multiple people fired shots and terrorism was quickly ruled out.
McFadden was spotted in the aftermath because he had relatives inside the club, and three were reportedly injured.
That is more than enough bad news for any team. Now on to some more positive, football related things.
Jerry Jones announced that his wife, Gene Jones, will be his presenter for the Pro Football Hall of Fame - RJ Ochoa, Blogging The Boys
Jerry Jones has finally named his presenter for his Hall of Fame induction, giving the honor to someone who has certainly earned it over the years: His wife, Gene. And as you might expect, our resident numbers genius found a special significance to add.
Up until last year it was relatively rare for an inductee’s wife to present him, as Mike Singletary’s wife Kim was the only one to ever do it in 1998. Brett Favre joined that club in 2016 when his wife Deanna presented him, and last week fellow 2017 inductee Kurt Warner announced that his wife Brenda will present him. Gene is, appropriately for the current Cowboys, #4.
20 Questions: Which Player Opens The Season As The Starting Left Guard? | Dallas Cowboys staff
With La'el Collins looking like the starter at RT, the LG position is one of the biggest questions to answer in camp. The staff at the mothership make their predictions. Here is Bryan Broaddus' take.
This is a tough one because it's a pure guess at this point. I could see it playing out between Joe Looney and Jonathan Cooper with others like Chaz Green, Emmett Cleary and Byron Bell getting shots. Those guys will fall by the wayside, giving Looney and Cooper the path. Coaches appear to like Cooper because they've also worked him at center as well as to say they might even move on from Looney if he shows he can handle the job. I am going with Cooper to be the starter even though Looney has the experience with the team. I don't believe you'll get the same player coming out of North Carolina, but he's one of the strongest players on the team and Jerry Jones loves those powerful inside players along his line.
Mailbag: Areas of Concern on Defense, and the Greatest Threats to Dallas in the NFC – Bobby Belt, Blitz Network
Answering some questions about the Cowboys, Bobby Belt came up with an interesting choice for the team that may be their biggest challenger in the NFC this year.
But I think the biggest threat to Dallas in 2017 and beyond is Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers barely missed the playoffs last season, and it took a fourth quarter rally for the Cowboys to come away with a December victory against them at AT&T Stadium. Jameis Winston is showing maturation and growth to go with his stunning raw ability and natural leadership. Winston and star receiver Mike Evans got help this offseason in the form of free agent Desean Jackson, first rounder OJ Howard, and third rounder Chris Godwin. The defense has tons of talent with Gerald McCoy, Noah Spence, Lavonte David, Kwon Alexander, Brent Grimes, Vernon Hargreaves, and the newly-signed Chris Baker. The biggest questions for Tampa remain offensive line and safety. But Ali Marpet is a budding star for the Bucs at guard, and they did attempt to fix the safety problems by drafting Justin Evans in the second round, and signing JJ Wilcox away from the Cowboys in free agency.
The Five Most Important Factors in Dallas’ Quest to Repeat as NFC East Champions – Bobby Belt, Blitz Network
Belt had two very good articles up, and in this one, he gave his top reason why Dallas should repeat as NFC East champ.
If Dallas stays healthy they will win the NFC East in 2017. Almost any other point worth discussing will either naturally resolve itself because of good health, or will pale in comparison to the value of the team staying healthy.
The most talented teams win their divisions. When they don’t, it’s most often because injuries depleted the roster, and they’re no longer fielding the most talented team. Vitriolic NFC East rivals will growl at the notion, but Dallas is pretty clearly the division’s most talented team. When you look over the rosters, from each team’s number one quarterback all the way down to the game day inactives, no other team in the division matches up with Dallas’ overall talent and positional balance.
If injuries are limited, the Cowboys should repeat as NFC East champions in 2017.
Dallas Cowboys: What's The One Thing That Makes The OL Great? ⋆ Brian Martin, Inside the Star
Health was a recurring theme in the news, and this one points to the durability of Tyron Smith, Travis Frederick, and Zack Martin as the key to the dominance of the O line.
Smith, Frederick, and Martin have amazingly been able to stay healthy and on the field nearly their entire careers for the Dallas Cowboys. I think it’s that reason and that reason alone why the Cowboys have been able to put together one of the best OL units in the entire league.
RB Jahad Thomas in strong position to take over for Lance Dunbar - Patrik Walker, 247 Sports
One UDFA you might want to watch in training camp is Jahad Thomas.
Still available after the doors were closed on the 2017 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys signed Thomas out of the undrafted free agent pool with the hopes of seeing him replace now-exited running back Lance Dunbar. It's a role Thomas knows all too well from his days with the Temple Owls, and he's excited about potentially being the square peg in the square hole.
Having already declared the marriage to be "the best fit" for his skill set, the rookie is excited at what he could bring to the table for the Cowboys. He'll be looked upon to prove he can ultimately become what Dunbar never did: The dynamic swiss-army knife RB who can do damage in space and in the receiving game.
