Ezekiel Elliott believes the offense will be just fine, just working through tough defenses.
Ezekiel Elliott has two words for critics saying he's lost a step - Kate Hairopoulos, SportsDay
Elliott doesn't think he's lost a step. At all.
Elliott was told some observers think he would've taken the same play to the end zone last season as a rookie, and that some say he's lost half a step. What would he say to that?
"Shut up," Elliott said simply.
Is he slower than when he won the NFL rushing crown last season?
"No," he said.
Elliott did allow that the Cowboys' running game is a work in progress three games in.
"We're getting better and getting into our rhythm, and we're trying to get better every week," Elliott said. "We've got to do a better job on first and second down that's where we've been shooting ourselves in the foot."
Elliott, Run Game Finding Rhythm After Early-Season “Growing Pains” - Rob Phillips, Dallas Cowboys
Opposing defenses know the Cowboys want to run. The Cowboys know opposing defenses know they want to run.
“We’ve a little bit of growing pains in the first couple games, but we’re getting there,” Elliott said. “We’re getting into a rhythm and we’re planning on getting better every week.”
Cowboys injury update: Sean Lee works off to the side, team works out free agent linebacker - Dave Halprin, Blogging The Boys
Sean Lee still not practicing for the Rams game.
The Dallas Cowboys may be without Sean Lee this Sunday. The star linebacker injured his hamstring late in the Arizona Cardinals game and has not practiced since. Earlier in the week he said he was hopeful that he could play this Sunday but that he wasn’t sure. The Cowboys held a walk-through practice yesterday, but today they did the real thing and Lee was unable to participate.
Dallas Cowboys getting strained at linebacker spot - Todd Archer, ESPN
With injuries piling up, the Cowboys might be forced to go with four linebackers Sunday against the Rams.
If Lee can’t play, veteran Justin Durant would start at weak-side linebacker with Smith in the middle and Damien Wilson at strong-side linebacker. In the sub packages, all three could find themselves in a rotation.
The Cowboys could look at fullback Keith Smith as an emergency linebacker. He joined the Cowboys as an undrafted free-agent linebacker in 2014 before moving to fullback last year.
Dallas Cowboys: Chaz Green ready for Aaron Donald showdown - Drew Davison, Fort Worth Star-Telegram
Dallas Cowboys left guard Chaz Green feels he’s making good strides through three games as left guard. He’s ready to take on one of the best DTs in the NFL.
Asked about facing Donald, Green said: “It’s a big challenge. He’s a good player, a talented player. He’s proven himself. I’ve got my work cut out. I’ll watch a lot of film, trust my technique and game plan.”
Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott has two words for critics saying he's lost a step - Kate Haropoulos, SportsDay
Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott heard a lot of questions about the state of the team's running game during his weekly session with reporters.
"We've got to do a better job on first and second down that's where we've been shooting ourselves in the foot."
After “Best Game” of the Season, Dak Trusts This Offense Can Deliver - Jonathan Auping, Dallas Cowboys
Through the first two games of the season the quarterback position didn’t look quite as natural for Dak Prescott as it had for much of his rookie season.
“We played three pretty good defenses in these first three games,” Prescott said. “I don’t think there are many teams in this league that can challenge us and do what these three teams have done of making us beat them over the top.”
Week 4: Previewing the Rams offensive approach and the Dallas defense - Manik Aggarwal, Blogging The Boys
Look for Demarcus Lawrence to continue grinding and lead Dallas to a victory.
The key matchup this week is how Lawrence will be defended by the Rams offensive line. Given his string of strong performances, it is clear that he will receive double teams, but he has shown the ability to still cause havoc in the backfield. If Lawrence is able to continue his pass-rushing attack, the Cowboys should be able to limit Goff’s passing game, then the defense can concentrate on shutting down Gurley’s ability to break long runs.
Dak Prescott, Jared Goff relationship dates to Manning camp - Todd Archer, ESPN
Two quarterbacks taken at different stages of the 2016 draft meet for the first time Sunday, but they are already familiar with each other.
"We became pretty good friends there before we ever thought about getting drafted, I guess you could say," Prescott said. "Through the [draft] process, combine, spent more time with him. So he's a guy that, I mean, a great quarterback, you get picked No. 1 for a reason and he's had a lot of success early this year so he's good."
Cole Beasley responds to disgruntled fantasy player - Stefan Stevenson, Fort Worth Star-Telegram
Wide receiver Cole Beasley was probably barely out of his Dallas Cowboys uniform Monday night before shedding an internet troll like a defensive back.
“Don’t mother [expletive] me, bro,” Beasley tweeted. “I can’t catch what isn’t thrown.”
Beasley was only targeted once, so his point was obvious. Of course, some inaccurately took that as a shot at quarterback Dak Prescott. Beasley quickly shot that down, too.
“No qb I’d rather play with. That’s my dog,” Beasley posted in response to the suggestions that he was “throwing shade towards Dak.”
If you’re wondering what Beasley is referring to, this is how they covered him:

Meet the 'Deacon' package Cowboys used to haunt the Cardinals' offense - Bob Sturm, SportsDay
Sturm gives you an overview of the Cowboys' "Deacon" package on defense that has been mightily successful.
Dallas so ferociously destroyed Arizona's offensive line, often times with a three-man rush, that people now are starting to see what a talent DeMarcus Lawrence truly is. The group around him that includes Maliek Collins, Benson Mayowa, Tyrone Crawford, Stephen Paea, rookie Taco Charlton, Damontre Moore and, soon, David Irving, is not too shabby either.
