Cris Carter went on FS1’s Undisputed show this morning and basically said that he has a source telling him that Ezekiel Elliott will be suspended and we should hear about it in the next 48 hours. He also said that information will come out that will make it easy to see why the NFL is suspending Zeke. He also hinted that the suspension would be more in the range of what Tom Brady got (four games) instead of the one or two games that have been referred to by other sources.

For the time being, though, Elliott and the Cowboys hang in limbo. There was a report that surfaced early Monday when Fox Sports 1 and Hall of Fame wide receiver Cris Carter predicted that Elliott would be suspended within "the next 48 hours."
The NFL and Jones dismissed that report as speculation. The NFL says the matter is still being reviewed and commissioner Roger Goodell has brought on a panel of four experts to advise him in how to handle the situation. But the Cowboys remain hopeful that Elliott will be cleared of any possible game suspension.
"Hopefully we’ll have Zeke for the full 16," Jones said. "That’s what we’re counting on."

As a third-string quarterback in training camp, practice reps are minimal for Cooper Rush.
"Thought he did a really good job," Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said. "Thought he handled himself very well. Poised and composed. The Dallas Cowboys returned to their training camp headquarters after almost a week away on Monday.
"I think our team handled the last few days really, really well," Garrett said. "We had a good practice on Tuesday before we left, handled the typical travel day before the game, had our meetings and our walkthrough leading up to the Thursday night game. A lot of our starting, front line players did not play in the game. They got a good workout beforehand. The guys who played in the game obviously got their number of snaps."

Apparently, a week of rest did the trick for Tyron Smith, who was able to return to practice Monday after missing time with a sore back.
The Dallas Cowboys’ All-Pro left tackle will return to practice Monday, according to coach Jason Garrett, although Smith could be limited in some drills. Smith sat out two practices a week ago after reporting some tightness in his back. He flew with the Cowboys to Canton, Ohio, for the Hall of Fame Game (he did not play) and the induction ceremony.

"We're just seeing how he progresses," Jones said. "No need to jump ahead and make a decision whether it's this week or next week or whatever it may be. The big thing about Jaylon so far is it seems to be better every time he goes out there. He's more and more comfortable with it. At the same time, if you left it up to him, he would've been going every play out there during the Hall of Fame game [Thursday night].
