Report: Former 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman is going to visit the Dallas Cowboys - RJ Ochoa, Blogging The Boys
Per Adam Shefter, former 49ers LB Navorro Bowman is visiting the Raiders on Monday and then is planning to visit the Cowboys.
Word surfaced on Sunday that the 49ers initially had an agreement to trade Bowman to the New Orleans Saints in exchanged for a seventh-round draft pick, but Bowman wanted to choose his new team and they obliged by releasing him.
This is interesting on its own, and it says that Bowman doesn’t want to play for the Saints. He clearly wants to play for what he views as a contender, and that the Oakland Raiders and Dallas Cowboys are first on his list says a lot.
Should Bowman choose to play for the Dallas Cowboys then he’ll have a unique opportunity ahead of him. His first game as a non-49er would be at the home of the 49ers as the Dallas Cowboys travel to San Francisco in Week 7. If he does choose one of these two, he’ll play the other when the Cowboys visit the Raiders on December 17th.

Defense, defense, defense.
Werder: I think [the Cowboys] have got to spend this bye week making some significant corrections to their defense - and it's not, to me, just Sean Lee's absence. Although, that has certainly exacerbated their weaknesses. But they've got to figure out a way to compete on defense. They can't be scoring 30 points at home and be losing, and that's sort of one of the signatures of this team and really of the organization in recent years.
So, if they can be competitive on defense and they don't lose Ezekiel Elliott for a six-game suspension - which still remains a possibility - then, yeah, I think they can compete.
That being said, if you look at the schedule, it's going to be a daunting challenge coming back from 2-3 as well as the Philadelphia Eagles are playing, as good as the Washington Commanders have looked to come back and win the division given some of the games that they still have to play - the Falcons, the Chiefs. Those are going to be really difficult games especially if you can't play defense.

Lewis has been the Cowboys' top rookie. Yes, he was defending Davante Adams on the game-winning catch against the Packers. But he made several other big plays in that game and others. The Cowboys are so confident in what they've seen from Lewis that it factored into their decision to release veteran corner Nolan Carroll last week.
Expect Lewis to start at one of the outside corner spots for the rest of the season and beyond.

Last year, the Cowboys were 7-2 in games decided by 7 points or less. This year they are 0-2.
So far in 2017, things have not been going the Cowboys’ way and it shows in their record. They were less than a yard away from keeping the drive alive against the Rams; they were a David Irving tackle away from either beating the Packers or sending the game to overtime. When the little things add up, it’s hard to win consistently in the NFL.
It was always going to be a long shot that the Cowboys were going to win 13 games this year but so far, they are on course for another 8-8 season unless some of these bounces and opportunities go their way. Every team needs a break here and there and almost every Super Bowl winner has benefited from some sort of break. So far in 2017, the Cowboys haven’t gotten theirs. Hopefully coming out of the bye, things will start going their way.

No one outside of NFL headquarters in New York really has a clue as to which way the draft wind is blowing.
Mum's the word there. The league has yet to even announce dates for the draft. Apparently the suits have been too tangled up wrestling with the pressing issue of the day -- kneeling versus standing for the national anthem. Players and owners may be approaching a crossroads. There's apparently no appetite for naming a draft site that potentially could bring its own baggage that would only add to the suddenly unsettled league's woes.
Unless the 2018 draft is pushed back from late April or early May, an announcement should be imminent. It takes time to prepare for an event that in 2017 attracted a record 250,000 people to Philadelphia's Center City.
All we think we know about 2018 is that Philadelphia and North Texas are considered frontrunners with the likes of Chicago, which was surpassed in style, grace and weather by Philadelphia, with Los Angeles and Atlanta also in pursuit.
