Maybe not today, or tomorrow, but soon the Cowboys will know the conclusion of the NFL's investigation into Ezekiel Elliott.
NFL owners reportedly pressuring Roger Goodell to suspend Cowboys' Zeke Elliott - Will Brinson, CBSSports.com
According to a report there is pressure from other NFL owners to suspend Ezekiel Elliott.
According to Dan Patrick on radio Thursday, that accumulation is a problem for Elliott. But there is a bigger problem brewing, Patrick reported in a very interesting segment on his radio show. There is a faction of owners out there who are pressuring NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to punish Elliott in some form or fashion because of previous punishments handed out to other teams.
"This is what's happening with Ezekiel Elliott right now, I was told yesterday. There are other owners -- this happens every single day I was told, because I said how often do owners rat on other owners, and I was told every day," Patrick said. "Somebody has something to say that someone is getting away with something."
"What is happening is other owners are saying to the commissioner, hey, you punished us, make sure you punish the Cowboys here," Patrick said. "That's sort of what's going on behind the scenes. And I said, if you're the players association ... asking this person, does he know if the players association would stand up on Ezekiel Elliott's behalf? That's the key. If Ezekiel Elliott's agent is going to say, one game and we're done with this. If the players' association wants to argue and say, hey, he shouldn't be suspended at all -- he wasn't even an employ of the league and you're suspending him. What is happening is, this happened with the Patriots, some of these owners, but not all of them, owners said, what a minute here, what are you doing with the Patriots here? That's how it blew up."
Report: The NFL’s investigation into Ezekiel Elliott is "nearing a close" - RJ Ochoa, Blogging The Boys
We might finally get a resolution on Elliott’s domestic violence allegations.
The investigatory part of the process is nearing completion, sources say, and the league has shared its findings with the NFLPA, Elliott and his representatives. It remains unclear whether Elliott will be suspended or otherwise disciplined. The report the NFL sent to the NFLPA made no recommendation one way or another on potential discipline, according to two people who have seen it.
Report: Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott, players union file response to NFL investigation - SportsDay Staff
The end may be in sight. According to an NFL.com report, the NFL Players Association recently filed to the league what the union, Ezekiel Elliott and his representatives hope is a final response.
The response from Elliott’s camp is another indication that a decision could be coming soon. The NFL’s findings did not include a suggested penalty, according to the NFL.com. ESPN reported last week that Elliott could be in line for a one- or two-game suspension.
Mailbag: Elliott Handling Star Player Status? - Dallas Cowboys
With the latest issues concerning Zeke, what's it going to take for this guy to realize that his actions may lead to suspension, which will damage the chances of repeating the year of 2016?
David Helman: We can talk about it all we want, but the only guy who genuinely knows the answer to that question is Zeke Elliott. Strictly speaking, he hasn’t done anything wrong in the eyes of the law – but this year sure has provided some lessons about the value of perception and the court of public opinion. He’s not the first young player who’s had to cope with the spotlight. Dez Bryant had some similar problems in the early going of his career. Hopefully, this is all a valuable learning experience, but there’s no way to know that for sure.
Dez Bryant of Dallas Cowboys says Ezekiel Elliott's troubles 'a stepping stone' - ESPN Staff
Bryant says Elliott will avoid off-the-field drama as he matures and that he's not worried about his teammate, despite recent troubles.
"It's just a stepping stone that he's gonna get over. Zeke's a young guy. I'm not blaming it on that. [But] freshman college to playing for America's team, it's kinda hard to deal with," Bryant told reporters on Thursday.
You gotta give Zeke credit because he do deserve it, he do deserve to have fun. Because he put that work in to have fun. But, as the years pass, as he gets older, he's gonna mature and things are gonna get a lot smoother."
Tony Romo says Ezekiel Elliott is "a good kid trying to find his way" - Drew Davison, Fort Worth Star-Telegram
The Cowboys former quarterback feels Ezekiel Elliott will eventually get back on track with his off-field missteps.
"He’s figuring it out," Romo said. "Obviously he’s made some choices he reflects back and wished he’d done it a little different, but at the same time there’s just not a lot of people who are thrust into this spotlight this soon at that age. Really in the National Football League, there’s only a few of them."
20 Questions: Is Super Bowl A Realistic Expectation For Cowboys in 2017? - Dallas Cowboys
The staff writers at DallasCowboys.com – Rob Phillips, David Helman, Nick Eatman and Bryan Broaddus – look at Super Bowl expectations in Dallas.
Nick Eatman: Yes, they lost on the final snap to the NFL’s best quarterback. But after a 13-3 season that could’ve been better than that, the expectations are to improve every year. If the Cowboys can stay healthy again and win a lot of those close games like they did last season, they will be in position to advance in the playoffs. Will they be 13-3 again? Probably not, but last year proved you don’t have to own the best record to be the hottest team in the league.
Surprising names among Cowboys' most productive defenders in 2016 - OCC, Blogging The Boys
Using a production points system, OCC looks at the most productive Cowboys defenders on a per-snap basis - with surprising results.
The most productive Cowboys defender on a play-by-play basis last year was Justin Durant. That's not to take anything away from Sean Lee, because the raw stats can only tell you so much. We know that Marinelli blitzed Durant a good amount relative to his snaps played, so his production points may be a little inflated.
Still, Durant certainly had value for the team last year, and he may just provide that value again this year, though probably in the reduced role he already had last year.
Cedric Thornton and Benson Mayowa may not get a lot of love from Cowboys fans, but the production points suggest they were more effective than many thought. Mayowa in particular is an interesting case.
After increasingly struggling as the season progressed, Mayowa was eventually benched in Week 10, 11, and 12. Prior to that, he had played 222 snaps with just 0.25 production points per snap. For an edge rusher, that's a really bad value, and the Cowboys were right to bench him. But the three weeks off apparently did him a world of good, as he came back for 136 snaps which he played with a very strong 0.66 production points per snap.

Jaylon Smith, Dak Prescott not only Dallas Cowboys to watch at camp - Todd Archer, ESPN
Training camp is the only time one gets to truly make judgments on players, and the Cowboys have several who will be under the microscope in Oxnard.
Most offensive lines can toil in anonymity but not the Cowboys' line. How will La'el Collins handle the space in playing right tackle? Will Jonathan Cooper find the form that made him a top-10 pick a few years ago by the Arizona Cardinals?
Denard Robinson works out for Dallas Cowboys - Jeremy Bergman, NFL.com
Former Jaguars running back Denard Robinson worked out with the Cowboys on Thursday, NFL Network's Jane Slater reported Friday.
The Michigan standout found moderate success as a running back with Jacksonville after playing quarterback throughout college. In four years in Duval, Robinson rushed for 1,058 yards and five touchdowns. The tailback led the Jaguars in yards from scrimmage (706) in 2015.
ESPN also reported Friday that the Cowboys worked out veteran back Ronnie Hillman this week.
How predictable: Cowboys QB Dak Prescott spends final days of freedom working out - Kate Hairopoulos, SportsDay
Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has a knack for doing and saying the right things, on and off the field. He has good timing, too.
"I'm in the best shape I've been in all summer, so I'm ready to go," Prescott said earlier this week in video distributed by Disney public relations. "Arm feels good, I've been throwing a bunch. I'm excited, ready to get back with the team and get this thing rolling."
Dez Bryant late, David Irving a no-show on first day for Dallas Cowboys veterans to report - Todd Archer, ESPN
Dez Bryant showed up late and David Irving didn't show up at all Friday, the first day for Cowboys veterans to report to training camp.
Multiple sources confirm Dez Bryant was late to Cowboys reporting day today at The Star in Frisco, Texas. Sources said defensive end David Irving did not report because he is already in California.
Players who miss the reporting date are subject to a $40,000 fine, according to the NFL's collective bargaining agreement.

About Time The Cowboys Turn The Tables On Sustainable - Mickey Spagnola, Dallas Cowboys
And now for the question of the day: Are these Dallas Cowboys, heading to Oxnard, Calif., on Saturday for training camp, sustainable?
So maybe in 2017 we find out which is a true indication of this franchise’s goodness? Which is the outlier? And for the better part of 20 years, the Cowboys just haven’t been consistent winners, driving you crazy with the teeter-tottering results.
There’s no need to overreact about Dez Bryant being late for a conditioning test - RJ Ochoa, Blogging The Boys
Dez Bryant was late showing up today at the Star, but it’s not really a thing.
For what it’s worth the plot would thicken and the story would take another turn when Mike Fisher reported that Dez wasn’t even supposed to take the conditioning test on Friday.
