Jason Garrett held a press conference and you can probably guess what the dominant subject was - Brain Waters. Before we get to the new Cowboys' guard, let's talk about someone who the team was hoping would be back on the field today, but that never really happened. Anthony Spencer was not on the field in the part of practice open to the media. Jason Garrett had said in his press conference that the defensive end would "do something" in practice today but unless that something was later after the media left, it's starting to look unlikely Spencer will be a go for Sunday night. George Selvie might get the start and will have to prove that his good play during the preseason was not a fluke.

As for other injuries, Ronald Leary was back at practice and said he felt good after Monday's limited practice. Signs are pointing to him playing on Sunday night as he took first-team reps on Wednesday. Lance Dunbar didn't practice but was working on the side so he looks like he's getting closer to a return. Danny McCray looks like he will miss the game, too.

Now, the news on Brian Waters. Waters did participate in practice and took second-team reps at right guard. Outside of that, we have to rely on the words of Jason Garrett at the press conference. Garrett was pretty non-committal about Waters. He said that he's had conversations with Waters throughout training camp and that he had been working out to stay in shape. He came in just a little over his playing weight but that he moved well in the workout on Tuesday. Garrett thinks Waters will pick things up quickly and that they'll practice him this week but have not decided about his status for Sunday night. Garrett also didn't commit to him playing right guard, but that's where he practiced at and that's where he played for New England.
