I never thought I would start out an article by giving credit to FS1's Colin Cowherd, but just maybe his conversation with former Cowboys' coaches Jimmy Johnson and Bill Parcells made him, and me, realize something. The story of what to do with Tony Romo and Dak Prescott is something that will have to iron itself out.

Cowherd prefaces his statement by saying in today's world, patience is hard to come by. The fact is that most people have smartphones that allow them to have what they want, when they want it, almost instantaneously. It eliminates our abilities to be patient in many cases and it correlates with what many Cowboys fans are dealing with right now. They want to move on to Dak Prescott, no delay. But patience with the normal process of letting your franchise quarterback return to his starting position, and letting his play determine the future, is what the organization should do. Allow Romo his opportunity to return, and let the situation play itself out.

I blame the advent of the microwave oven. No patience anymore. And so what if the food you heated up is burning the flesh from your mouth in some spots and still cold in others, at least it was fast. Right now Dak is a hot pocket that you mopes want to throw in the microwave and get out instantly, even if it's heated unevenly and not nearly as appetizing as it could be. No, Dak is a lot better than a hot pocket, they are kind of nasty anyway. But whatever, let the guy cook slowly.

I wish the 2010-2014 Romo would come back but he doesn't exist anymore. Right now, Romo is a 37-year old QB who can't scramble and most likely will avoid a hit at all cost. Think of Eli throwing the ball in the dirt to avoid a hit against Minnesota on Monday night. Which Eli did about 5 times. You really want to see that? You think you can win with a brittle QB who will avoid contact and can't scramble.

Very good article. Very good points. I think what some fans are asking is for all of Tony Romo's brilliance and sophistication in the passing game... we have very limited concrete success to show for it other than regular season wins and great stats. We have injuries, turnovers and heartache to end every season. There's something that isn't showing up on the stat sheet that I'm concerned about. If we're asking who's the better passer with superior experience. The answer is obvious. The situation is a bit more complex. I didn't realize the at we missed Beasely vs The Giants.

Can't wait for #9 to return! In the meantime, I hope the team keeps winning games until he does.

For as long as he's healthy, Romo's the best option. Whether that's for three games, three years, or three quarters is another debate.

Again, I am not against Dak Prescott, but he has a bright future ahead of him and a long time to enjoy it. I want to see Romo go out on top. That's unlikely, but as a Cowboys fan I will never give up hope.

This might be the first and only analogy re QBs and microwave ovens and food.

But let me say this, chaps from the unfrozen North Texas tundra:

Some of Tony's December passes have had a crust around them with cold spots in the middle, yes.
For him, a conventional oven would be best for all-around heating.
Dak's passes seem more the quick-heat type with equally heated areas, though for high altitude passes he might prefer the conventional oven with longer duration time.
If Dak gets a quick warm-up, he is good to go from there start.
Romo needs more sustained heating and he does get better as the game goes on. Except, blokes, during Decembers.
Now, as far as the toaster oven, if anybody can take that, I'd be honored as I have little experience with a toaster oven.

People act like 2014 was last week. The jury is still out if Dak will be the next great Dallas QB. But he's given life to a mediocre franchise. And I thought he was going to be a bum draft day. I'm happy to say I was wrong.

The last December Romo played, the Cowboys were 4-0 and scored at least five touchdowns in four consecutive games for the first time in their history. Both statistically and record-wise, Romo is worse in October than he is in December-January.

This is a case of an old stat from the 2006-08 era being beaten into fans' heads so excessively, we fail to see the real story. Again, sorry for trying to sound like a Romo apologist, but the guy takes way too much flak.

If Romo cannot perform to the same level anymore, then it will be time to move on.........I agree 100% with you my friend.

However, Romo deserves the opportunity to show if he is the same player or not or if his skills have eroded or not. For what all this man has done for this franchise, I think it is the least we can do to give him a couple of games to see if he can be the Romo of old.

Ugg this defense is not going anywhere this year so let's get Dak ready to go 4A playoff run next year. No need to watch Romo laying on the field again.

If we could get Romo from 09-14 that would be great. Like you say, that guy probably doesn't exist.

He's 36 with a injury plagued history. One of his best assets was buying time to make something out of nothing. I just don't think he can do it anymore.

Dak has a lot of growing to do, but I think he is currently the better option.

Don't even both trying to explain to that guy.
He'll use for evidence things that, well, aren't evidence at all.

We were 2 and 0 when he went down. How did we win those games? Dont say defense.
