After having some time to digest the Cowboys 2014 schedule, let's re-visit it.
While we continue to wait, and wait, and wait for the draft to arrive, the NFL gave us some scraps to chew on by releasing the 2014 schedule. We covered the schedule release here, but now let's take a look at the good and the bad of the Cowboys schedule.
Good
-- The bye isn't until Week 11. Having a bye later in the season is a good thing. Your team is likely banged up, multiple guys could use a week off and it's a good time to re-charge the batteries for a stretch run.
-- The Cowboys can get off to a good start with so many home games. Okay, I know Dallas hasn't been particularly strong at home since AT&T Stadium opened, but it's still better than road games. Six home games in the first nine weeks allows Dallas to build momentum if they can take advantage. In sports, just winning a few games can make a team better by building confidence. It also relieves the pressure of having to win every week to climb out of a hole. I like this part of the schedule.
Bad
-- How did the NFL come up with a night game, on the road against the Giants on a Sunday, followed by a Thursday Thanksgiving game, followed by another Thursday night game the following week at the Bears? Simply brutal scheduling.
-- Don't forget your booties because it's cold out there today. The Cowboys stretch-run could be played in some inclement weather - NY, Chicago, Philly and Washington, D.C.
The Random
-- The Cowboys will participate in the maximum number of prime-time games (5) and could possibly have a sixth if they get flexed.
-- London. Playing in London will be an interesting experience. Surely we can beat the Jags over there.
