After bringing in four players to a workout yesterday (three defensive linemen and one offensive lineman), the Cowboys decided to sign Toby Jackson out of Central Florida. In order to complete this transaction they had to release injured defensive lineman Ike Igbinoson who has missed most of camp with a foot injury. Jackson had submitted his name for the 2013 supplemental draft after sitting out the 2012 season at Central Florida for academic reasons.

It turns out that Jackson was very highly recruited coming out of high school, and once again when he came out of junior college. But academics have always seemed to get in the way. His specialty is rushing the passer. You can learn some more about him in this article.

Our sister site Music City Miracles did a profile of Jackson before the supplemental draft.

Jackson was a four-star strong side defensive end recruit out of high school that committed to Georgia, despite offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Miami, and USC. This highly ranked recruit was listed above former first round picks Quinton Coples, Datone Jones and Robert Quinn by Rivals.com.

Here is a YouTube highlight reel.

In other Cowboys news, Kevin "Killer" Kowalski has a knee injury that is likely to sideline him for 2-3 weeks.
