The much-traveled, much-maligned quarterback will join the Dallas Cowboys as a veteran presence behind Dak Prescott.
There was no question that the Dallas Cowboys were waiting to see which veteran NFL passers were going to be cut as teams got their rosters down to the 53-man cap. The only thing up for consideration was who they would eventually sign to a contract. The wait for news is finally over, and the player they signed is someone who is sure to draw criticism from fans. The Cowboys have signed Mark Snachez.

Think of it this way. We are discussing a player whom we hope to never see make a game appearance. Dak Prescott is expected to take the snaps in Tony Romo's absence. Sanchez is simply a veteran presence who can take over if the unthinkable happens again. It is not like Dallas is asking Sanchez to come in and make a difference.
Sanchez does bring experience to the locker room. He might not be anyone's first choice, but he has been there and done that. He is what the Cowboys were looking for. In that role he should suffice. This is not a long-term arrangement but a marriage made out of necessity. We have been saddled with players we did not want before and got through it. The courtship between the Cowboys and Sanchez will be a brief one.
Let's make the best of it and hope it does not last long.
