Thin in the best of situations, the Dallas Cowboys depth at linebacker keeps diminishing as we roll toward the start of the season, but the team is looking at options to strengthen the middle of the defense.
For much of the offseason, it was thought that Sean Lee and Rolando McClain would provide the Dallas Cowboys with a solid nucleus around which to focus their efforts. Sure there were a couple concerns; Lee's health throughout his career and Ro Mac's history of not being the most reliable of employees, but by and large things looked well in hand.
Fast forward a bit and Ro Mac delivered a double whammy to the team. His desire to avoid playing football and his inability to avoid controlled substances combined to throw a curve to the Cowboys plans. It is becoming more and more doubtful that we will ever see the number 55 worn by McClain again. It seems his only defender in the Cowboys camp is owner Jerry Jones, and you have to wonder how much longer Jones will stay the course with the troubled former Alabama star. Coach Jason Garrett and Jerry's son Stephen will no doubt be pushing the boss to cut his losses and move forward as camp wears on.
To add insult to injury, second year player Damien Wilson will not be available to the squad thanks to an eye injury. The linebacker was facing an opportunity to get himself more work in training camp up until he suffered an injury playing paintball. Now it appears that Wilson will miss a couple weeks.
Dallas finds itself needing help at linebacker before the first popping of the pads is heard in Oxnard. The team has now signed a pair of free agent linebackers to attempt to fill the void left in the defense. Both worked out for the Cowboys staff earlier today.
The Cowboys are signing linebackers Darius Eubanks and Henoc Muamba to the roster. Muamba is a former CFL star

Darius Eubanks has kicked around the NFL on practice squads for several seasons. His stops include stints with Minnesota, Cleveland, and Tampa Bay. In addition to his time on those three squads, Eubanks was also a member of the Cowboys practice squad for two months last season so he does have some familiarity with Rod Marinelli's defense.
Darius has served stints on the active rosters in both Cleveland and Tampa. During his brief time on the field he has recorded 12 tackles. The 6'2" 227 pound player is primarily an outside linebacker.
Henoc Muamba was the first-overall pick in the 2011 CFL draft. He played three seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers before earning a stint with the NFL's Indianapolis Colts. He saw limited action in the league, recording six tackles before returning to Canada and the Montreal Alouettes for the 2015 season.
Muamba's numbers in the CFL show that the 6' 230 pound linebacker has a nose for the football, and that he can make plays if he finds himself in the right situation. Given the openings in Dallas, Henoc may have found his place.
Welcome to Dallas,I mean Oxnard, gentlemen.
