More workouts, more injuries.
It was just one week ago that the Cowboys announced they were trading cornerback Charvarius Ward for guard Parker Ehinger. The Cowboys had planned for Ehinger to come in and immediately provide depth on the interior and as a tackle on the offensive line. Ehinger popped up on the official week one injury report, and we learned a little more about his injury today from Jason Garrett.
Sounds like Parker Ehinger might not be available for Week 1 after suffering an injury yesterday in practice. Garrett says he’s day to day, but the team is working out OL Xavier Su’a-Filo #cowboyswire

Garrett, didn’t sound optimistic about Ehinger and his availability for week one. He also didn’t rule out the possibility of the former Kansas City Chief needing some kind of scope or procedure. In wake of the injury news, the Cowboys will be working out former-second-round pick, Xavier Su’a-filo. Su’a-filo was drafted in the second round by the Texans in the 2014 NFL Draft out of UCLA. Su’a-filo has started 41 games in the NFL, and started every single game for the Houston Texans in 2017.
Xavier Su’a-filo would provide quality depth along the interior of the offensive line and has plenty of experience to take over as the backup guard heading into week one. If the Cowboys do decide to sign Su’a-filo, it will be interesting to see what they decide to do when Ehinger does get back from his knee-injury. For now, we’ll have to just wait and see what they decide on the former-second-round pick.
