There has been speculation that the Dallas Cowboys might add to their stable of running backs competing to replace the departed DeMarco Murray. But until now, there really hadn't been anything tangible to support the theory. The Cowboys will work out Ben Tate today, a back who has bounced around to a few teams last season but is know for his time in Houston.

Tate was a second-round pick for the Texans in 2010 and had a really good year playing in 2011, racking up 942 yards with yards per carry average of 5.4. In 2013 in Houston he caught 34 passes for 140 yards. His 2014 season was a bust as he bounced around among three teams, but before that Tate was averaging over four yards per carry in his career and was highly sought after in the 2014 free agency period.

The Cowboys are likely just kicking the tires here, but it does show that they are willing to look at veteran running backs to add to the mix of Darren McFadden, Joseph Randle, Lance Dunbar and Ryan Williams.
