News: BTB: Dak Prescott Was Just Good Enough At The End To Salvage A Cowboys Win Over The Eagles

It was turning into the least impressive outing of his tenure in Dallas, but by the time the game was over, Dak Prescott proved that he could overcome his struggles and lead his team to victory.

Sooner or later every rookie quarterback has one of those games where his lack of experience shows, and Dak Prescott finally turned in his on Sunday night. There were flashes of what we have come to expect from the Mississippi State alum, like the 53-yard completion to Dez Bryant, but far more telling were the mistakes.

Dak tossed up his first home interception when he tried to force the ball into the hands of Brice Butler late in the second quarter. With the game tied at 10, the young passer was trying to make a play to shift momentum the Cowboys way. The Cowboys were knocking at the the door of a touchdown before the half. Instead, Philadelphia was able to turn the interception into a long field goal to take a lead into the locker room at halftime.Returning from the intermission the Dallas quarterback continued to struggle. His accuracy was off for most of the evening. He underthrew multiple passes to open receivers and missed an open Bryant for a potential touchdown. Only Terrance Williams getting an offensive pass interference saved a second interception in the Philadelphia endzone.

Then, as things sometimes do, something clicked for the rookie and he began to look like a seasoned veteran. The game wound toward the final buzzer when the Dak we have seen thus far this season came alive. With the Cowboys battling to stave off their second loss in the division, things could not have turned around at a more opportune time. With just over three minutes remaining in the game Dak found Bryant for a 22-yard scoring play to bring Dallas even. The touchdown was the culmination of a clutch drive led by Prescott, the kind of drive winning quarterbacks make. That touchdown pass would turn out to be the final score of regulation.

It was in overtime that Prescott began to really channel his inner Tony Romo. The game winning drive that he put together included completions on all five pass attempts and a successful 4th and 1 quarterback sneak. The drive was capped by a five-yard toss to the ageless Jason Witten to seal the win for the Cowboys. His evening might have began as a 'rookie' outing but it ended with the performance of a wily veteran quarterback.

In this league they only care who won, there are no style points. On Sunday night, young Mr.Prescott was just good enough.
