Now that we're nearly a week removed from the Cowboys first pre-season game, let's project a possible 53-man roster.

Post Pre-Season Game One 53-Man Roster Projection
Offense
QB Romo Dustin Vaughan looked just fine against San Diego, but the need to go long at another spot (ahem DL ahem) will force their hand in carrying only 2 here.
Weeden
RB Murray Definitely a lot to feel good about at this spot.
Dunbar
Randle
Williams
FB Clutts Special teams gives him the edge if it's close.
WR Bryant The top five guys are locks in my opinion. Boyd is making himself a hard man to cut but I think he'll get squeezed by the numbers
Williams
Beasley
Harris
Street
TE Witten Only thing that could change is if they bring in a blocking TE.
Escobar
Hanna
OT Smith Considering the fact that Darrion Weems can't seem to get healthy, have to lean on Parnell for the only spot up for grabs here. Could Wetzel overtake him in camp?
Free
Parnell
OG/C Frederick I'm betting on Leary to win the job at LG over Bernadeau who becomes the swing G/C. Add Nwaneri who will likely fight for the 46th active spot every week.
Martin
Leary
Bernadeau
Nwaneri
Defense
DE Selvie With Spencer looking like he'll be ready sooner than the week 6-8 that would signal PUP, they'll probably keep him on the 53, add Lawrence who's not eligible for PUP, and you have a recipe for going deep at a position.
Mincey
Lawrence
Crawford
Spencer
Wilson
Boatright
DT Melton With a couple of DE's (Mincey, Crawford) who can move inside to rush, and a couple of DTs waiting in the wings (Brent, Okoye) we could see them go shorter here. McClain and Bishop give more at the nose than Hayden. While Melton and Coleman create a good duo of pure 3-techniques.
T. McClain
Coleman
Bishop
LB R. McClain Since they acquired McClain a month or so before camp, I've been saying that if his heart is in it, he is a starting Mike LB for this team, and I still believe that.
Carter
Wilber
Durant
Holloman
Hitchens
CB Carr With Scandrick missing four weeks for suspension, I believe they'll go ahead and keep Webb as the 5th corner.
Claiborne
Moore
Mitchell
Webb
S Church Wilcox and Church are your starters, while Dixon, Hamilton, and Heath give you a pretty athletic, tackling bunch to play special teams.
Wilcox
Dixon
Hamilton
Heath
K Bailey Nothing to see here…
P Jones
LS Ladoucer
PS Vaughan Who really knows at this point?
Patmon
Boyd
W. Smith
Bush
Sapp
R. Smith
Patrick

PUP
Okoye Who knows what the issue is or if/when he'll be able to play.

SUS
Brent I'll predict a four game suspension for Brent.

Scandrick

Looking at the 53-man roster, you have 23 offensive players, and 27 defenders. Which I will attribute to carrying Spencer and Lawrence on the roster while they will both miss games early on. The important thing to look at here, is to see the potential talent infusion the defense could experience from week 4 on. Spencer, Scandrick, Lawrence, and Brent represent four starting-level players who could all hit the field in mid-season.
