A great majority of this roster has already been determined. There are only a handful of spots that are really up for grabs. I will focus on these areas and take a close look at which players are on the rise, and which are falling. But before we get to that, let’s get the locks out of the way.

ELITE PLAYERS

These are the stars on the team. To be in this group, you have to at least made the Pro Bowl once. These players are one of the very best at their position and there is very little doubt that they are the cream of the crop of the Cowboys roster. Your actual order may differ from mine, but they should consist of the same players.

STRONG STARTERS

  • Terrell McClain and Claiborne are categorized as Reliable starters. It's true that Claiborne will make the team, but both are constantly injured and not very reliable.
  • Benson Mayowa is categorized as a Solid starter- I've never seen that dude play an NFL game and he's just now coming back from injury
  • K Moore shouldn't be using a roster spot. It him on IR or some gone for the season never to play again list. Then when he's all grown up give him Wades job.
Overall it was a fun read though and I agree with most of it.
Thanks for sharing!

Having 32 players solid or above is a good thing. The roster looks stout. But it all hinges on Romo's health.

The only people that should be in the solid catergory are Church, Durant, and Hitchens. Everyone else is developing or a role player.

Having Terrell McClain listed as a "reliable" starter is somewhat laughable - don't you actually need to be healthy and available to be considered reliable?

Didn't mention any of these players in the article, so thought I would add them for discussion. There could be a PS player in this bunch after final cuts.

75 Dixon, Gerald, Jr. - DT 6-2 325 South Carolina
62 Smith, Jared - G 6-3 302 New Hampshire
63 Stiverson, Boston - G 6-3 318 Kansas State
48 Hepburn, Brandon - LB 6-4 225 Florida A&M
47 King, Deon - LB 6-0 220 Norfolk State
40 Morris, James - LB 6-1 245 Iowa
49 Muamba, Henoc - LB 6-0 230 St. Francis Xavier
69 Baldwin, Darryl - T 6-6 305 Ohio State
78 Bradfield, Cameron - T 6-4 308 Grand Valley State
61 Mack, Ryan - T 6-4 300 Memphis
76 Witzmann, Bryan - T 6-7 311 South Dakota State
86 Traylor, Austin - TE 6-3 247 Wisconsin

I thought the same thing when I saw Mo and Mayowa in the "Solid" tier. And McFadden is all the way down in no man's land. Entertaining list to be sure.

I still hold out hope for Mayle, he had a heckuva catch, looked like Dez for a second. And Morris and King are interesting.

Doug Free should be considered a reliable starter. Zeke should not be considered a reliable starter until he at least IS a starter. McFadden and Morris should be considered reliable.

Sometimes BTB is as off based as USA Today....and UsA Today is irrelevant anymore.

This article mentions that Tapper is having a bad camp so far. That is the first time I heard that. Early on, Tapper was having a good camp. This article also mentions he has a sore back. Maybe his sore back is the reason for a so-so camp. I was hoping he could show something.

I would not put Romo in the elite. He needs to prove he's back to that form. He's too old to assume he will.

But Smith, Bryant, Martin, Frederick, Lee. All elite. Whatever on Bailey. He's a kicker. I expect Collins and Zeke to join the elite group next year.

They are Assuming these guys will be healthy. Is Romo not elite because he's injured?

When has Terrell McClain not been injured in his career? And, to bring Romo up as a comparison is ridiculous.
