Barr, Donald, Ward among draft visitors - Todd Archer, ESPN Dallas
Archer offers up the names of five highly rated prospects who will make their way to Dallas for a pre-draft visit.

Among the national visitors to the Cowboys next week for pre-draft visits are UCLA outside linebacker Anthony Barr, Pitt defensive tackle Aaron Donald, Ohio State linebacker Ryan Shazier, Boise State defensive end Demarcus Lawrence and Northern Illinois safety Jimmie Ward, according to sources.

Don't Underestimate Half-Dozen Picks in 7th Round - Nick Eatman, DallasCowboys.com
Eatman reminds us that the Cowboys have been pretty good in rookie free agency, usually having two or three players making the team every year. Now they have the picks to draft those guys. The Cowboys record with seventh-round picks over the last 10 years looks pretty good, even though they haven't really hit on a seventh rounder in recent years.

Be Careful Messing With Good Thing In Free - Rowan Kavner, DallasCowboys.com
Rowan Kavner warns against simply assuming Free will move inside, should the Cowboys draft a new right tackle prospect. Because for a unit where continuity is highly valued bumping Free inside to right guard would be changing at least two of the five positions on a line that finally put together a good season in 2013 after multiple seasons of below average play.

Cowboys have best receivers in NFC East - Calvin Watkins, ESPN Dallas
Watkins adds up the receiving stats against division opponents and has the Cowboys duo coming out on top.

Bryant and Williams are an emerging force that's going to be difficult to stop on a consistent basis within the division. Cowboys officials have said this offseason there's no fear in leaving Williams next to Bryant on the first-team offense. Quarterback Tony Romo didn't have any hesitation in targeting Williams inside the red zone last year.

Charean Williams’ NFL mock draft | Star-Telegram
Williams offers up a name you don't often see mocked the Cowboys' way.

16. Dallas – Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan: Donald would be the pick if he was on the board, but he’s not. Lewan and Zack Martin likely are higher on the Cowboys’ draft board than Ealy, allowing Doug Free to move to guard.

The Notebook: Is Kony Ealy a 1st-round pick? - SBNation.com
The Missouri standout is seen by many as one of the top pass rushers in the 2014 NFL Draft. Not so fast, says retired NFL defensive end Stephen White.

Brandon Thomas injury could make agents think twice about pre-draft private workouts | ProFootballTalk
The news that Clemson offensive lineman Brandon Thomas tore an ACL while working out for the Saints could have a very real consequence on the future of such workouts. Specifically, more and more players may choose, at the behest of their agents, to no longer engage in private workouts.

Thomas' injury also affects the Cowboys: They had interest in the player, and according to @tonypauline, had invited him for an official pre-draft visit.

The reality of doing business in NFL | Andrew Brandt, The MMQB
The Eagles’ releasing of DeSean Jackson on March 28 and the Titans’ cutting ties with Chris Johnson on April 4 are stark illustrations of the inevitable leverage shift from player to club in the cold and calculated business of professional football. Both releases were classic cases of teams having leverage over players. It also again showed the fallacy of taking an NFL contract at face value.

NFC East Watch: Eli Manning Has Ankle Surgery | Scott Crisp, NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth
Giants quarterback Eli Manning apparently suffered a high ankle sprain in the Giants' 2013 season finale. After trying to rehab the injury, "a lingering discomfort" ultimately led to the decision to have surgery.

"I went through the recovery and rehab after suffering the sprain," Manning said. "I was still experiencing some discomfort as I began my normal offseason preparation, and after consultation, we felt the right thing was to have Dr. Anderson clean out the ankle. The doc tells me I should be running in about six weeks."

2010 NFL Draft do-over: Broncos still take Tebow - NFL.com
In his latest draft do-over, Bucky Brooks has two Cowboys players going in the first round. Dez Bryant goes to the Raiders at No. 8, and Sean Lee goes to Packers at No. 23.

On Dez to Raiders: The late Al Davis would've loved to add a passionate playmaker like Bryant in a 2010 re-do. Although Bryant has shown questionable maturity at times, there is no disputing his production or potential as a No. 1 receiver in a system designed to feature his dynamic skills as a pass catcher.

On Lee to Packers: A knee injury kept Lee out of the first round in the original draft, but his production and instincts would make him hard to ignore at this point.

Oddly, he has the Broncos wasting a first-round pick on Tim Tebow again, but I guess the headline necessitated that choice.
