Exclusive Interview: Sean Lee "will be ready" for OTA’s | Mark Lane, Cover32
Fellow blogger Mark Lane was on hand when Sean Lee signed some autographs, and scored a short but exclusive interview with Lee. An excerpt:
"My neck feels great," Lee said during an autograph signing appearance at Uncle Bob’s Self Storage in North Richland Hills. "I’m working hard. You know, I’ve been working hard to try to rehab. I’ll be ready for the full off-season program, OTA’s, training camp. I’ll be one hundred percent here soon."
Sean Lee looking forward to Rod Marinelli's defense - Todd Archer, ESPN Dallas
Archer deftly points out that entering his fifth season with the Cowboys, Sean Lee will be playing for his fifth defensive coordinator. But Lee likes what he's seen from Marinelli so far.
"Unbelievable motivator, great person, great coach," Lee said. "I’m excited to play for him as our coordinator. He’s going to be great. I’m excited coach Kiffin is going to be involved, too. I have a great relationship with (linebackers) coach (Matt) Eberflus, who has made me a better player. Having all those guys will be great."
Sean Lee still awaiting clearance from doctors, says his neck is improving - Todd Archer, ESPN Dallas
Sean Lee is confident he'll be ready in time for OTAs, but for now, he has not been fully cleared by the team's medical staff. Once cleared, Lee hopes to shake the injury bug for 2014.
"I think I've had a combination of injuries, like the hamstring would be an injury-prone type of injury," said Lee. "I think I've also had some bad luck where I got rolled up in a pile with my toe and I've gotten hit by my own guy in a pile.
"I need to find a way to stay healthy, whether it's finding a way to be stronger and not having the hamstring deal or it's hopefully having a little bit better luck. I need a combination of both going forward."
10 offseason questions: Marinelli's fixes - Dallas Cowboys Blog - ESPN Dallas
Nice to see Dan Graziano back to talking Cowboys for a change. Heres' his take on whether Marinelli can fix the defense:
Can he keep it healthy? I think Marinelli showed this year that he can get production out of defensive linemen who may not be highly regarded. And I think he's smart enough and a good enough coach that he can make the Cowboys' defense better. But until they stop losing key pieces (Sean Lee, hello!) for large chunks of the season, they can keep changing coordinators every offseason and it's not going to make a difference. I think if they add some depth up front and keep guys at least relatively healthy, Marinelli can make them a top-10 defense in 2014. But this is a couple of years in a row now where the whole thing fell apart over poor health, and I'm not sure what he or anyone else can do about that.
Dallas Cowboys ready to move on from Miles Austin? - NFL.com
Miles Austin's star has been on the decline as injuries have taken their toll on the two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver. NFL.com picks up an ESPNDallas report and surmises that Austin's time with the Dallas Cowboys might be running out.
Film Review: Pitt DT Aaron Donald - Bryan Broaddus, DallasCowboys.com
Bryan Broaddus has an inaugural video segment in what he promises to be a regular feature on the mothership and kicks it off in style by reviewing fan favorite DT Aaron Donald. Money quote: "You don't want a slug playing inside."
You don't want a slug playing inside. You want a guy that's able to play with some power, quickness, but also some lateral quickness.
[Donald is a] prototype 3-technique that can play, that can play in this scheme, and is a great fit when you talk about those explosive players up the field.
Mike Kafka signs with Tampa Bay Buccaneers, not Dallas Cowboys - Todd Archer, ESPN Dallas
Kafka signed with Tampa Bay. No biggie. Except for Calvin Watkins of course, who makes a big deal out of it (The Cowboys' complex QB issue)
Breaking Down The Numbers Under Scott Linehan - Rowan Kavner, DallasCowboys.com
Kavner looks at the potential impact Linehan could have in both the passing and running game.
