The Cowboys played on Thursday, so there aren't that many headlines this morning. But news of a possible Sean Lee return against the Bears as well the possibility of Aaron Rodgers not playing the Cowboys more than outweigh that.
Sean Lee thinks he'll return for Chicago Bears - Calvin Watkins, ESPN Dallas
Calvin Watkins provides a rundown of the latest injury updates, the most significant of which is Seal Lee, who believes he could return for Monday's game against the Bears.
"I think I have a great shot for returning next week," Lee said. "I have to put the work in and go through practice and go through the progressions, but I feel great but I should have a good shot."
Aaron Rodgers might not face Dallas - NFL.com
Ian Rapoport reports that if Aaron Rodgers can't play next week against Atlanta, Green Bay might shut the quarterback down for the season because the Packers could find themselves out of the playoff race by then.
Stephen Jones: Cowboys DT Jason Hatcher has outplayed the contract - Calvin Watkins, ESPN Dallas
Stephen Jones said on KRLD-FM that DT Jason Hatcher has outplayed his contract, and that Jones understands Hatcher's frustration at not having any clarity about his future in Dallas. But the Cowboys are tight against the cap next year, and while they have ways and means to get under the cap, freeing up enough space to re-sign Hatcher may be a little more challenging.
"But we've told him before, we've had some really great players, guys that are some of the best we've had here in Darren Woodson and Jay Novacek that actually went into free agency and tested the waters and ended up back here in Dallas," Jones said. "I don't know what will ultimately happen with Jason Hatcher. We certainly would love to (have) him back."
"We certainly don't know what the salary cap is going to be next year as far as the league is concerned. We’re so tight that we’ll need to see that before we can make a decision on what we can do with Jason financially. We certainly want to be in the mix. We respect there may be a little frustration but what a class act. He certainly doesn’t show any of that with his teammates with he's done on the football field. I have complete admiration for the job he's done this year."
Cowboys hoping December brings gift of post-season play - wfaa.com
The Cowboys are again getting ready for a four-game stretch run with two at home and two on the road — games that will determine their post-season eligibility.
Cowboys will have run gauntlet, be tested over last four games if they make playoffs, Jerry Jones says - Carlos Mendez, Star-Telegram
Jerry Jones thinks the next four games will be a good measuring stick for the playoff aspirations of the Cowboys: The Cowboys will be battle tested if they make the playoffs after the next four games, two of which are on the road.
"I still think that it’s going to come down to beating the Eagles," Jones said after the game against the Raiders. "Then again, I’m not forgetting about Washington. We’ve got these two away, two at home; formidable teams. Two of them are neck-and-neck. One of them will probably get Rodgers back. So those will be big games for us. Chicago on the road, Washington on the road – believe you me, they’re going to sit here with some resolve after a game like they had the other night. So we’ve got our hands full. This will be a good test for us."
