Latest Dallas Cowboys headlines: strong work habits will allow Romo to bounce back from back surgery, the Cowboys may be looking for an upgrade at wide receiver, and Scouts Inc. proposes some defensive draft targets.
Final Exam: Tony Romo will bounce back - Todd Archer, ESPN Dallas
Contrary to public opinion, "working hard has never been a problem for Romo," Archer writes. He expects Romo to bounce back from his back surgery and "continue to be an upper-level NFL starter."
Scouts Inc.: Dallas Cowboys have to be heavy on D - Todd Archer, ESPN
Scouts Inc. offers up the following names a potential draft picks for the Cowboys:
- Defensive end: Oregon State’s Scott Crichton, Texas’ Jackson Jeffcoat, Southern Cal’s Devon Kennard.
- Defensive tackle: Notre Dame’s Stephon Tuitt, Minnesota’s Ra’Shede Hageman, LSU’s Anthony Johnson.
- Safety: Alabama’s Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, LSU’s Craig Loston, Stanford’s Ed Reynolds.
Solid Group Of WRs, But Upgrade Needed - Bryan Broaddus, DallasCowboys.com
Broaddus reviews the wide receiver group and concludes that with the decline of Miles Austin, the Cowboys will likely look to add to an extra receiver in the offseason.
As a whole, the group is very good but I would not be surprised to see another addition to the squad like we did with Williams last season during the draft. From all indications, it is a deep group and there will be an opportunity for this front office to add a quality piece there.
Position Series: Changing Of The Guard For Dallas Receivers - David Helman, DallasCowboys.com
Helman writes essentially the same article as Broaddus and comes to the same conclusion. Why these two articles were posted on the same day will remain an eterenal mystery.
Surgery Shouldn't Keep Harris Out Long In Offseason - Rowan Kavner, DallasCowboys.com
Dwayne Harris, who suffered through multiple injuries over the course of the season, underwent shoulder surgery and should recover in time for offseason workouts. Kavner writes that this is the time of year where players undergo surgery to fix injuries sustained during the season, and that DeMarcus Ware could be next.
There will likely be more minor surgeries and clean-ups to come for some of those players. DeMarcus Ware said after the season ended he’d likely get a scope done for his elbow injury, but as of now it doesn’t appear surgery is imminent. With the season just finishing up and a lot of time left in the offseason, that could still change for him and other injured players.
Cowboys Hidden Gems: Kyle Wilber - Todd Archer, ESPN Dallas
Playing defensive end for the first ten games of the season, Wilberforce played like a guy without a position, Archer writes. But once the Cowboys moved him to strongside linebacker for the last six games, Wilberforce began to live up to his nickname.
For the final six games, and he had 31 tackles, two tackles for loss, and the Cowboys might have lucked into finding their starting strongside linebacker for 2014. He also displayed a toughness that was not apparent because of his lack of playing time.
Jury Seated, Former Dallas Cowboy Trial Starts Monday - CBS FW
After a two-day selection process, a jury consisting of ten women and two men, is seated for the Josh Brent intoxication manslaughter trial which will start on Monday.

Jerry Jones offseason plan resides with two - Calvin Watkins, ESPN Dallas
Watkins tries to explain the roles Will McClay and Tom Ciskowski will play for the Cowboys, but gets stuck in a hindsight loop along the way.
Is Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones Standing Pat With His Coaches? - Blogging The Boys
Tom Ryle argues that Will McClay gives Jerry Jones a de facto GM, as least as far as the draft is concerned, and possibly in making decisions concerning players already on the team.
The McClay move is something that we can watch and evaluate. If he is successful, then maybe all the concerns about Jerry Jones refusing to do something about the general manager position may be irrelevant. Titles are just that. Results are all that really matter.
Cowboys Mike Woicik Likely Staying; Shakeup In Draft Preparation - Blogging The Boys
The Cowboys are likely to retain strength and conditioning coach Mike Woicik. They're also changing who makes up their draft board for the 2014 draft: assistant director of player personnel Will McClay will be responsible for the Cowboys’ "Big Board" for the 2014 draft, a task Cowboys director of scouting Tom Ciskowski had handled for the last six years.
