NFL's secret weapons: Every team's ace in the hole - NFL - Sporting News
Vinnie Iyer lists one offensive or defensive playmaker per team, veteran and rookie, who is about to make a sneaky big impact on his team during the 2014 season. His list starts off with Lance Dunbar in the top spot.

The Cowboys will keep chucking in Scott Linehan’s pass-happy offense, and Dunbar, whom the coaches love, is the perfect pass-catching back for it. He’ll be involved often as a change of pace from DeMarco Murray.

Is Lance ready to raise the bar? | Dallas Cowboys
Marcus Mosher looks at Scott Linehan's history with running backs, and comes up with this nifty little chart:

Mosher concludes:

Scott Linehan’s running backs are going to be productive and catch a lot of passes, regardless of talent. But when you do give Linehan talent at running back like he had with Steven Jackson in 2006, Reggie Bush in 2013 or even Michael Bennett in 2003, they can put up some unbelievable stats. I think those three years, 2003, 2006, and 2013 are statistics that will be comparable to what DeMarco Murray and Lance Dunbar are going to put up in 2014. I also believe that this will be the best offensive line that Scott Linehan has ever had to work with. This is good news for Dunbar.

QBs in Focus: Tony Romo - Pro Football Focus
PFF provide a breakdown of Tony Romo, pointing out that Rom "posted highest grade (+6.3) and passer rating (106.1) in the fourth quarter/overtime," but was also "among the league’s worst under pressure (-14.2), particularly non-blitz pressure (-10.3)."

Best and worst first-round NFL draft picks of the 1990s - NFL.com
Was Emmitt Smith the best player taken in the 1990 draft? Or was it Junior Seau? That's a question NFL.com's Chase Goodbread put up for debate as part of his look at the best and worst first-round draft picks of the 1990s. Goodbread picked two players in each category for readers to discuss as part of the NFL Network celebrating '90s week. Here is Goodbread's quick take on both players:

Seau: One of the greatest linebackers in NFL history, the No. 5 overall pick was named to 12 Pro Bowls and played 13 years with the team that drafted him (San Diego).

Smith: As the No. 17 overall pick of the Dallas Cowboys, Smith had a Pro Football Hall of Fame career that resulted in three Super Bowl rings and 11 straight 1,000-yard seasons.

Welcome to Arlington, TX: The American Dream City | City of Arlington, TX
On Tuesday, the City of Arlington and the Arlington Convention and Visitors Bureau announced the City’s official brand "Arlington: The American Dream City," and cited the fact that America's Team plays in Arlington as one of the drivers of that branding choice. Admittedly, their choice sounds better than "Arlington: Where the Dallas Cowboys play."

Colts lineman Joe Reitz, NFL players prepare to beat training camp heat - IndyStar
The National Athletic Trainers' Association met on Friday in Indianapolis, and Indy guard Joe Reitz was one of the speakers at the event, where the NATA released updated guidelines on prevention, recognition and treatment of heat illness. Reitz talked about how 300-pound football players handle the challenge of stying hydrated in sometimes very hot training camp conditions.

"It's really important to have a plan of attack," Reitz said. Reitz also said he's dedicated to a hydration regimen, drinking 44 ounces of fluid during meals and increasing his fluid intake at night to make sure he's not losing too much weight because of the heat.
