Stephen Jones: Defense took woeful play against Chargers personally, will bounce back vs. Broncos - Clarence Hill, Star-Telegram
Stephen Jones calls the Chargers game a "wake up call" for the defense and the coaches, and there is no doubt in his mind that the Cowboys defense will bounce back from last week's performance.

Stephen Jones on benchings: If we are going to be better than .500 we have to hold players accountable - Clarence Hill, Star-Telegram
Bruce Carter could be the fourth starter the Cowboys replace in lineup over the first five games. Stephen Jones calls the benchings part of being accountable.

"We do need to have accountability if we are going to be a better than we have done in the past. We don’t want to be a .500 team and to lose a game like we did (against the Chargers) drops us back to the level again. We want to get going in a better direction than we have historically done. We have to have accountability from top to bottom."

Ernie Sims, Bruce Carter will see action - Dallas Cowboys Blog - ESPN Dallas
Given that the Cowboys will likely be in their nickel defense a lot, Garrett sees both carter and Sims playing key roles, regadless of who gets the start.

"Bruce is going to play a lot in this ballgame," Garrett said. "Ernie’s going to play a lot in this ballgame. And they’re important parts of our defense."

"[Sims] did a good job in the ballgame the other day, so he’s going to play a lot in this game," coach Jason Garrett said. "We’ll shake out how it all starts based on what everyone’s availability is, but he’s going to play a lot in this game. There’s no question about that."

Sims’ Newfound Preparation Vital In Quick Ascension - Rowan Kavner, DallasCowboys.com
There's a reason why Ernie Sims is a former first-round draft pick. There's also a reason why he never quite lived up to his draft status. Both are now coming together for Sims.

"One thing I do know is that I’m going to be prepared like I don’t know what," Sims said. "Through all my years of playing back in Detroit and my early years in the NFL, I didn’t prepare. I just relied on my God given ability, but now I’m putting two and two together and it’s really starting to show up."

Murray trying to throw Broncos off course? - Tom Orsborn, MySA.com
Orsborn thinks Murray could be indulging in some gamesmanship because Murray says the Cowboys will not commit to a clock-killing ground game against the Broncos.

"We got a good defense," Murray told reporters on Friday. "They give us a lot of opportunities with takeaways and that they’re playing well for us. We know they’re a good offense, but we’re a good offense as well. We’re going to continue to play our game and control what we can control and score as many points as we can like we do any other week."

Austin expected to miss another game - Tom Orsborn, MySA.com
Austin looks like he'll miss his second straight game after being listed as doubtful on the official injury report on Friday.

Chris Jones Not Planning On Punting Away From Holliday - Rowan Kavner, DallasCowboys.com
Trindon Holliday is the reigning AFC special teams player of the month, but the Cowboys don't plan on kicking away from him. Hmmm...
