I miss the days when the coaches spoke with one voice--The Voice of Bill Parcells.

Well, I miss the Parcells years generally, so I guess that first comment doesn't mean much.

In the offseason, Parcells assistants would hold interviews, too. Only during the season were the assistants cut off from the media.

Coach B wants the team to have a fullback. Murray likes running with a fullback. What are the odds the team goes without a fullback? 70-80%?

Garrett likes having a fullback, too, but has gone without one at times because he didn't have one worth carrying. Not sure how he feels about Clutts and Copeland.

When is the last time we had a FB who could not just block but run the ball as well as catch it and actually turn up the field without falling down?

Anderson and he doesn't really count as a blocking FB IMHO. Is it really all the way back to you know who??

I think Clutts only made the roster last season after we were depleted enough at other positions for a FB to make sense. I'd bet against him making it out of camp, all things being equal.

The Copeland pick, too, I think was a strange one. It seems to me that Murray does like running behind a FB, but that he does best with a FB who's agile enough to get through the line and block at the second level. Just looking at his college tape, Copeland looks like a big, inline blocker--more in the style of a Vickers than a Clutts or a Fiammetta. I'm looking forward to watching him, though, when the pads are on.

It might just be that, with the extra prime beef on the interior OL, they plan on ramming the ball a lot more this season and want the beefy FB to go along with that, even though it wasn't all that helpful back when we were going light on the interior OL.

Ram the ball up the Defensive End and they are the ones that have to get their hands dirty getting it out.

I don't know. I think Clutts made the roster because we were getting poor blocking overall by the backup tight ends. If Escobar struggles in that area in camp this year, it's more likely for Dallas to keep a fullback. If he's improved vastly to where it makes more sense to keep two tight ends on the field whenever Dallas isn't in a three-receiver formation, then I think the value of a fullback that isn't good for anything more than blocking decreases sharply.

Garrett wants a Moose, but has shown that he'll go without if he can't find one or feels the two-tight end offense can provide adequate blocking while presenting more challenges in the passing game. He gave that a shot after drafting Escobar, but ultimately brought in the fullback when the blocking struggles became too much to ignore.

Well he got the spot Dunbar vacated. I think we were interested in a FB all along, but couldn't justify the luxury.

I do think Hanna's job might be in question if we decide we want to go with a FB this season. Escobar will be used some to block, but he's primarily going to be a slot or passing game option, I think.

The head scratcher for me is that John Conner was available in 2012 and again at final cut downs in 2013. He was a guy they supposedly wanted as a rookie in the 4th or 5th round and just looks like the perfect fit. The gnats picked him up when Hynoski went down. So it's possible one of those guys is available at final cut downs.

I consider FBs a luxury but if you find a really good one then I like having them around. Someone big enough to block well without undue injury, able to catch the ball and get YAC, and run well enough to make the defense watch you is a nice thing to have; just difficult to find.

Why? He's not a very good blocker and he's a dime a dozen receiving threat. I hope we upgrade his spot.

I believe he has the potential to be a real threat in the passing game (like Gronk level). I believe he has been underutilized.
