The cuts down to 75 have begun for the 2014 Dallas Cowboys.

The Dallas Cowboys have started their cuts down to 75 which have to be completed by this Tuesday. They have released two players, defensive end Martez Wilson and fullback J.C. Copeland.

The release of Wilson is a mild surprise, only because it comes so early in the process and because of the depth issues Dallas has at defensive end. Wilson had shown some ability to put pressure on the passer, picking up a couple of sacks in preseason, but wasn't very good against the run. Perhaps this cut could be read as an indication that the Cowboys think that Anthony Spencer might be able to play early on.

J.C. Copeland was an early fan favorite as a rookie out of LSU for his size and physical blocking style. But he never could get into a groove with the Cowboys. He was bothered by injuries for much of the early parts of the offseason and never was able to make a serious charge at the other fullback ahead of him on the roster, Tyler Clutts. It's not sure that the Cowboys will keep one fullback, let along two.

More cuts will be coming before Tuesday, we'll keep you informed.
