I just don't seem Ernie Sims not making this team. Sorry don't see it. Also I have a hard time thinking Hamilton won't make it. This kid is going to be solid come camp. I'm not so sure coale or Beasley make it. People are forgetting about the other WR's and if those guys can play ST where Beasley can't I could see someone of them bumping him off

I can't see Arkin making the team while Cook doesn't. Cook can play all 5 spots and I think he restructured his contract.

All too early. Injuries and trades change things every year. Fun to speculate though.

But it sounds like Arkin has taken virtually every starting snap in the place of Bernadeau.

And plays none of them well.

I think most can agree that Vickers won't make it to the season opener.

Yeah, Vicker's agent was overheard pleading with him to change his position to RG or RT so they could squeak out another 5yrs on this team,,,

well come on, not all draft picks are going to make it, and most know the draft is hit or miss. Im not saying the high end picks, but lets be honest, not all guys are fit for every team. And you know most fans want a superstar at every position, thats why every other team has players all better than ours.

They arent saying the guy is a failure, just wont work here. Maybe another team could use them.

Other teams could have offered them more money to sign if they really wanted them.

I thought that Sims played well last season under the circumstances and this defense should be more suited to him; however, there appears to be a lot of young talent at the LB spot now. When considering depth, it's highly likely that they could bring Sims back later if he does not make the final cut.

Cook can't play LT and is not very good at any of the other positions. He is a terrible run blocker. Cook would not affect the OT position for the gameday roster. Frederick appears to be the likely starter. Costa is a much better run blocker than Cook at Center and probably at Guard also. Bernadeau was better at Center than at Guard last year. There is a good chance that Kowalski is better than Cook at C/G.

Trades seem unlikely; however, I agree that it is very early to speculate. We need to see at least 1 pre-season game. Injuries always happen.

OTAs, mini-camp and the 1st week of training camp are not good indicators of a players status based on previous years. Coaches often like to get questionable players enough snaps early in the process to determine if they want to keep that player. It is normally by the end of the 2nd week in training camp that they like to start getting players ready for the season and the depth chart becomes more accurate.

Agree.

Agree. If they were planning to have a FB on the team, they would have at least 1 backup FB on the 90 man roster.

Please no Arkin or McSurdy.
It is difficult to know about these players at this point. The only info that we have is primarily from reports by Broaddus on players without pads. The reports don't sound good for Arkin; however, it's hard to imagine that he didn't get somewhat stronger than he was 1 year ago. McSurdy didn't have great measureables; however, based on some comments this off-season, it appears that he might have been to heavy (250) at that point. He is reported to have lost weight and gained speed.

I don't get it either. I can somewhat understand losing patience with Arkin at this point. It's still too early to be calling for him to be cut, but at the same time this training camp is the one where he needs to show enough ability to at least be a trusted backup. If the coaches are still uncomfortable putting him in by the end of TC, it will likely be time to cut bait. I for one a pulling for him. Now is the time he's should make that jump and I'll open to seeing if he can do it.

The dislike for McSurdy baffles me (although, I'm starting to realize that may just be only one uninformed poster who wants him gone.) The guy was a 2012 7th round draft choice who got hurt last year. I can't understand the thinking (or lack thereof) that illicits such a dislike after such a small sample size.

One off-season cut short by injury and it's enough to hate him. I just don't get it.

Does it make me a bad fan that I look forward to the day I never have to hear the name "David Arkin" again?a

Seriously get a grip. I have no emotional attachment to players that can't even make the game day roster. If there is a better player than him that will make the overall team better, then I'm going to root like hell that this is that final chance he gets.

I think the real point with Arkin is that some feel he's had his chance and will never be appreciably better, and therefore never good enough to keep. Others want to see him at least get another shot in TC to see what offseason improvement may have taken place.

I don't think anyone wants him to fail.

There are similar thoughts around Costa and even Bernadeau. But no one says those things about Kowalski because they don't feel he's had his shot yet even though he's been on the roster for two years just like Arkin.

I don't think he wants them to fail as much as he doesn't think they're very good, and hopes we have better players and don't have to resort to keeping those two.

Yes, it does. Because you don't know the work that Arkin has put in during the offseason nor do you know what improvements he's made in his game. Rooting for a player not to make the roster at this point is putting your own desire to be "right" over the possible betterment of the team.

Good point about Cook.

A couple months ago I was thinking Cook's place at the table was set, but I agree with you at this point... I think Cook is on the outside looking in. He's not a better center than Frederick or Costa. He can't play guard and I wouldn't trust him at LT... So what's left RT? And if Free or Parnell were not available I would be tempted to give Leary a shot there over Cook. Cook hasn't played RT in several seasons and when he did he wasn't very good at it.
