Heave a sigh of relief. Dallas gets much needed help in the interior of the defensive line.

He broke the news itself.

Thank you chicago for the best 5 years of my life!.... I can't wait to begin the next chapter of my life... With a star on my helmet.

Henry Melton (@HenMel) March 19, 2014

Jerry Jones still is one of the best closers in the NFL, and it is likely that Rod Marinelli didn't hurt. The Dallas Cowboys now have a solid three technique defensive tackle, pending his recovery from his ACL injury. On 105.3 The Fan, Mike Fisher said that he understands that Melton is 90% back from the injury, and no problems are expected after the medical exam the team put him through.

Details are still pending, but word is that this is a multi-year deal. Melton is 27 years old and the Cowboys are making a play to get the best years out of him. And, also according to Fisher, Jared Allen is still a target. The Melton signing may actually make it easier to work out a deal with Allen, since the overall quality of the defensive line just got a major upgrade. And Anthony Spencer is also still a factor on a D line that suddenly looks a lot better.

And now, Joey has his lead dog.
