Lawrence generated more pressure than any other edge defender

Dallas Cowboys fans are well aware of the terrific season Demarcus Lawrence has had thus far. The fourth year pro has racked up 7.5 sacks and has been a disruptive presence in opponent backfields all year.

Today, Pro Football Focus honored Lawrence with 1st-team All-Pro status at the season’s quarter point. PFF graded Lawrence the second most effective edge rusher in the NFL over the first four games of the season (behind Khalil Mack). See what they had to say:

Edge defender – DeMarcus Lawrence, Dallas Cowboys

PFF Grade: 90.6

Elite Stat: Lawrence’s 20.2 pass-rush productivity mark is almost a full 1.0 higher than the next closest edge defender.

DeMarcus Lawrence has generated more pressure than any other defender in the game through the first four weeks of the season. In fact, with 30 total pressures, eight of which are sacks, there is nobody else even close to the volume of pressure Lawrence has been able to produce and his PFF pass rush grade of 92.5 is almost five points higher than any other edge defender.

Two Dallas offensive lineman also warranted honorable mentions:

By comparison, PFF named four Cowboys to their 2016 1st-team All-Pro unit:

The Eagles did not have any players named 1st-team All-Pro but three of their offensive lineman (Jason Peters, Jason Kelce and Lane Johnson) received 2nd-team honors. In addition, Brandon Graham (DL), Patrick Robinson (CB) and Jakie Elliott (K) earned honorable mentions.

The GiantsDamon Harrison and Landon Collins also earned honorable mentions as did Commanders’ tight end Vernon Davis.

Great!! Why wait until the contract year to perform. I don't trust any contract year specialist. Franchise tag only. Take it from there.
