News: BTB: Ezekiel Elliott Named NFC Offensive Player Of The Week

There probably wasn’t much debate about giving the award to Zeke.

He did it through his running, he did through his pass receiving, and he did it through his pass protection. Ezekiel Elliott hurt the Pittsburgh Steelers in every way possible in the Dallas Cowboys 35-30 comeback win. So it comes as no surprise that the rookie running back was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week.

Elliott had 21 carries on the ground for 114 yards, a 5.4 yards per carry average. He also notched two touchdowns on the ground, both coming late in the fourth quarter. One with 1:55 left in the game to give the Cowboys a lead, the other with nine seconds left to give the Cowboys the win.

Elliott also hauled in two passes, one of which was an 83-yard screen pass that went for a touchdown.

Let’s not forget, Elliott is a heck of a blocker in pass protection. Watch as Elliott wipes out a blitzing Ryan Shazier on this pass completion to Cole Beasley. Not only does he block him once, flipping him over, but when Shazier gets back up off the ground, Elliott doesn’t quit and shoves him off again, leaving Prescott clean to throw the pass.

This kid is something special. With over 1,000 rushing yards in his first nine games, he joins an elite list with Adrian Peterson and Eric Dickerson.
