Check out what Jaylon Smith may look like in Dallas.
So the Dallas Cowboys shocked everyone by grabbing Jaylon Smith in the second round of the 2016 draft. Most projections had him maybe going somewhere in the third round, but Jerry Jones and company weren't inclined to wait that long. Of course, if you had projected him before the knee injury that will have him sitting out the 2016 season, he would have most certainly ended up in the top ten of the first round.
Now that we've had a little time to absorb the shock of drafting a player who won't play this year, our minds turn to what kind of player could Smith be once he hits the field. The Cowboys feel very confident that Smith will return, will be his old self and will play for a long time. I'd say you better be sure of all that before you go and draft a guy in the second round.
So let's go ahead and assume that sometime in 2017, we'll be seeing Smith getting ready to hit the field for the Dallas Cowboys. What will we see? Fortunately, one of our SB Nation brethren, Brett Kollman over at the Houston Texans site, Battle Red Blog, did a film breakdown of Smith. It's actually a comparison of Smith and former Alabama, now Buffalo Bills linebacker, Reggie Ragland. So sit back and watch the first six and a half minutes of this video to get a feel for the type of player we may see one day in Dallas.
