The Bene Benwikere trade was a solid move
Benwikere is not the guy who is going to come to town and transform the defense, but he is a solid depth guy who can make a play at a critical juncture. He has done that in the league, during his time in Carolina. While he had not developed as it was once hoped, he does bring talent and health to a team that is looking to revitalize a defensive secondary that has needed a shot in the arm for the past few seasons.

This is a piece written by one of that site's worst writers, so it carries no weight either way with me.

Hey now let's not diss the obligatory article, pumping up a guy who got lazy and unconditioned for one team, then was about to be cut ... but now is a great player!

So how many on here seen this guy play on a regular basis, and not just a few casual plays. Enough to form a true opinion or are do people say a player sucks as usual becaise he is not a sexy big name signing. Or do you go by what others post and go along with it....LOL.....

well I have seen him play, So he may not get in a lot of playing time, and maybe he is a place holder until the rookies heal and / or get some playing time in. But he is better than White, yet another rookie. Who was always PS guy anyway. If Leon. McFadden was not injured, I say he is better that Leon, but they may not have made the trade. If Duke Thomas was not injured, then tho,as stays.

But give the guy a chance first, instead of ragging on a player.

I've watched him play plenty ... I live near Charlotte and am handfed Panthers football.

Bene was solid before he broke his leg. After that, not so much. He's a solid cover 3 guy at best. The Julio game he was still coming back from injury and wasn't in top shape.

Think of this. As bad as Carr, Mo, Jacques Reeves, Lance Frazier, Nate Jones were ... how often do you see a #1 corner cut midweek??

not a lot of guys can cover, he gets a pass (pun intended) on that for me...I think this was a solid move, albeit not a game changer...as another said, I believe Dallas has great hopes that this shiny new secondary will have growing pains together, but no one saw anything with hammy-gate....I am THRILLED about Awuzie being on this team, and he and Lewis may some day be entrenched as starters and/or major contributors for the team...nothing wrong with a little insurance until then....just get some pass rush and that will make them look MUCH better

How often seen one cut? Not often enough according to many past posts from some around here....:muttley:

From what I seen him play, I think he was ok, but I think he is a placeholder until Lewis is ready and the others get some experience. Would not doubt once Moore returns in game 3 on the DL, he will be gone.

Good post.

I think he is as good as you're going to get as a #3/4 corner.

Outside of New York (Jenkins, DRC, Apple, Cockrell) teams aren't very deep at CB with playmakers

It mentions a conditional pick.In another article, I read it was conditional 6th. Anyone know what the conditions are? Minimum games with the team? playing time?

Whats the condition that has to be met for the conditional 6th to convey

Benewikere being the first cut once players come of suspensions

That sounds more like a condition that that would allow us to keep the pick.

I have heard 8 games but not sure that is correct. This is basically an insurance move. Most likely if the defensive backs get better and get some game experience Benewikere will be cut. They also mentioned he could be cut. Then brought back a couple weeks later to get around the conditional pick.
