Have you ever heard Garrett's press conferences over the last five plus years, time and time again he talks about bringing in the right kind of player, character players, smart intelligent players that represent the organization and the community, players that do it the right way on and off the field.....so again, tell me, what part of any of that is Greg Hardy????

8-8 8-8 8-8 12-4 and well this year. RKGs:clap:

I've been watching Jerry for 27 years I know how he operates his MO is there for all to see. Prior to the 92 season he took a chance trading for Charles Haley who was a volatile player because he knew he had a contending team and the addition of Haley could put the Cowboys over the top and it paid off. Heading into the 08 season Jerry thought he had a SB contending team and took the chance on Pacman Jones with a low risk deal. After that season went down the drain Pacman was gone! Heading into this season Jerry once again thought he had a SB contending team and knew that the lack of a pass rush is what knocked the Cowboys out of the playoffs last season so he took a chance on Hardy with a low risk deal. He knew he would take some flack for bringing Hardy in but felt it was worth the bad press because he thought Hardy could do for the 2015 team what Charles Haley did for the 92 team.

With the team going 4-12 and 2-10 with Hardy everything points to Hardy being gone. Although Hardy played well for the most part he didn't make enough of an impact to be worth the risk or the headache a long-term deal can bring. Hardy started problems with the Cowboys before he ever stepped on the field with an insensitive 911 reference on Twitter that visibly angered Jerry and Garrett. Not long after Hardy stepped on the field he had a physical altercation with the special teams coach during a game after just severing a suspension for putting his hands on someone. o_O If he does that off the field he'll be facing another assault charge and his football career will be over. During the Tampa game he was being heckled by fans and he took his helmet off while he was on the field and fired back at the crowd. The guy is crazy! There's been reports he's been late for meetings and missed some meetings. If anyone is stupid enough to pay this guy a lot of money he's likely to screw them just like Albert Haynesworth screwed the Commanders.

The guy is trouble and no way do I see the Cowboys banking their future on a player who could end up in big trouble again making the organization look real bad. The fact that DLaw has emerged as a viable pass rusher and that Gregory could potentially come on next season is more of an indication the Cowboys aren't going to take the risk with Hardy. The Cowboys have enough ammo with the 4th overall pick to add another pass rusher. They can't risk the problems and bad PR resigning Greg Hardy can bring. He didn't make enough of an impact this season to risk signing him to a long-term deal. We need players with good character not players that are going to eventually force the team to have to get rid of them.

Jason Garrett has probably seen more of Greg Hardy than he'd like to, while Jerry prefers to ignore his discrepancies in favor of keeping him. It should be quite interesting to see who prevails.

It might also prove interesting to see what Hardy's reaction would be if he's offered more money to play for another team if that team offers him more money than what Dallas might part with. His professed devotion to the Cowboys would be sorely tested if such a scenario came to pass in the offseason.

Oh, he would ride with the money, no question.

And if he does, Garrett gets his way then. But we would be asinine to not offer him something not insulting.

The team put up with a lot of guff because of him and he owes for that. In the same respect, I think Hardy brought some positives, despite the lack of the insane numbers projected for him.

He has stated clearly he likes it in Dallas and wants to stay. Usually a player who has a market for his services (I am sure his agent has already) does not show their cards like that if they intend to, or really want to play the market.

Very possibly but the amount of another team's extra money offered would surely play a part in his decision. It might need to be fairly substantial to convince him to depart. He likes it in Dallas.

When Jerry has a team he feels like is on the brink he takes chances on troubled players. In 99 he brought in Alonzo Spellman after the Cowboys finished 10-6 in 98. Spellman had all kinds of issues the guy was a nutcase but because Jerry had a team he felt was close he signed Spellman to a low risk deal. After the Cowboys finished 5-11 in 2000 Spellman was gone. With the Cowboys finishing 9-7 in 2005 and Bledsoe taking 49 sacks during his first season with the team Jerry thinking that the team was on the brink took a chance on TO signing him to a series of one year deals that protected the team. TO along with Pacman were released after the disappointing 08 season in which the team didn't come close to meeting the high expectations everyone had. Jerry has always made risky moves if he feels he has a contending team and the Hardy move was no different.

The only possible way I could ever see Hardy back is if he were to be willing to sign a series of one year contracts similar to what TO did that protects the team. I'll wager with anyone that Greg Hardy WILL NOT get a hefty amount of guaranteed money from the Cowboys. Jerry could work something out where if Hardy makes it through a full season without any issues he'll receive a sizable bonus at the end of the season but there's no way he receives a lot of guaranteed money up front. In saying all this I still don't believe he'll be back with the Cowboys next season based on how this season went and the fact that his play didn't impact the team enough for him to be worth the headache and possible problems he could bring the organization in the future. Carolina is having their best season in franchise history without Hardy.

I really don't know what's going on in the locker room, and I doubt anyone else on this forum does, unless you know someone who has a direct link to the locker room.

But from the outside looking in, it seems Hardy has gotten his act together. After the massive criticism he took early in the year, we haven't really heard that much about him.

And even though he didn't finish like he started the season, I think his injuries had something to do with that. Even if it didn't, Hardy still contributed to this defense, which didn't exactly have playmakers on the defensive line. Lawrence came on late, but he's still green. And Gregory was injured for most of the year and hardly contributed. An influx of talent should help.

But one thing that concerns me is this: Hardy may be one of those players who has to let his "insane" side take over to get the most out of him.

We all know guys like this. They are crazy on the field, but they're also crazy off. They don't have a "moderation" button. So he may need to talk smack about the other team (in this case Brady's wife) to get him jacked. Maybe muting him does something to his ferocity. I'm not excusing it. I'm just recognizing that some guys are like this.

Maybe he has been hurt to the point where he has muted himself so he doesn't come across as a violent individual. But in muting himself, he's muted his game on the field too.

Anyway, those are my thoughts.

I think it's pretty alarming that he needed a couple more sacks against a backup tackle to make a couple million incentive and couldn't do it. Bosa will take over. Bosa, Gregory and Dlaw, without having to spend 8 mil a year.

Think Garrett Job is to COACH.. coach Hardy and all other players.....if he wants to be GM then move up to the Front Office.....until then he should focus on coaching the players to get the best he can out of them.....going 1-7 is a total indictment of the coaching staff.....Indy and other NFL teams lost key players and still figured how to win a few games....Garrett and his Staff CRASHED......don't care what the excuses are... Coaching is a results oriented position not social work.

Really try hard to like Garrett and sincerely want him to succeed.....but so tired of the excuses.....make a difference...be the difference or move on.

The Cowboys will have to decide how important it is to try to bring back Greg Hardy for another season, but has that decision already been made?

With the season officially over, the next several months will be dedicated to putting together a competitive team for 2016. The Dallas Cowboys will be faced with some tough decisions as they have several fringe guys who will become free agents. Morris Claiborne has played out his rookie contract. Rolando McClain has played through two different "show-me" contracts and each time they have still left many questions on the table.

And then there is Greg Hardy.

Last year, the Cowboys bucked a trend of signing lesser-known depth guys in free agency to go after one of the elite pass rushers in the game. Hardy didn't come cheap as he cost the Cowboys $8.8 million this season. And that doesn't include the price of all the medial hoopla that came with signing a player who was facing a suspension for a domestic violence incident in 2014. The Cowboys gave Hardy a chance, but did he do enough to get another deal? It's tough to say exactly how the team perceives Hardy or what his market price will be, but after listening to Jason Garrett's press conference on Monday - my instincts are telling me that Hardy will not be back.

There are two things that you can count on in a Jason Garrett press conference. First, he offers up very little in regards to any locker room business or any personal matters relating to a player. Team issues stay within the team and Garrett will give you nothing. Second, Jason doesn't bad mouth people. Whether it's officiating or his own players making mistakes, Garrett doesn't use this forum to criticize people. This type of bland response can infuriate some fans as many draw the conclusion that Garrett isn't privy to the wrong doings of his own team and a bunch of mayhem is going on while he just sits on his hands. But don't let the simplicity of his words mislead you. Garrett knows exactly what's going on.

So on Monday, when he was asked if he wanted Greg Hardy back on the team, he stayed on script and gave the media very little, saying...

"Don't want to get into any personnel decisions right now,"

In typical Jason Garrett fashion, he would point out some positives of the player.

"I thought Greg did some good things for us on the field, defended the run well at times, impacted the quarterback at different times during the game," Garrett said.

But that's all he said. Usually, he is a little more elaborate about what a player brings to the table. Certainly there was a lot more that could have talked about when it comes to Hardy's contribution to the team. He went on for five minutes about Darren McFadden and he can talk about Jason Witten for days. Could the lack of words from Jason be a testament to how he feels about Hardy?

Jason Garrett cares about Greg Hardy, the football player. What kind of teammate he is, how he prepares, and the leadership he provides to this team. And from all counts earlier in the season, Hardy was delivering in those areas. And he was delivering on the field too as he started out strong with four sacks in his first four games and also a nice interception against Russell Wilson of Seattle.

Of course, there have been some issues. Hardy isn't the most tactful tweeter as he made some poor taste comments about the Twin Towers. Then, there was the comments he made about Tom Brady's wife. And we cannot forget the famous clipboard incident on the sideline that made a lot of news that week. Jason Garrett would deal with Hardy regarding these behavior episodes and coincidentally, Hardy has been quiet since. But his on-field performance has been quite as well as he only has two sacks over the last eight games of the season.

The Cowboys front office will thoroughly evaluate each player as they make decisions on who they want to keep, but Jason Garrett might already have a good idea as to what the future holds when it comes to Hardy. And if the Cowboys and Hardy part ways, everyone will have their own theory on why it happened, but for Garrett it's going to center around what's going to make this team better. Since Hardy won't come cheap, using the money elsewhere may be the answer. And while Garrett will never come out and say it, sometimes saying very little can be revealing. He didn't have a whole lot to say about Joseph Randle earlier in the year when he was absent from Valley Ranch, and Randle was released shortly thereafter.

Do you think Jason's limited comments about Hardy is an indication of his lack of interest in seeing him return next season?

I guess he's not a RKG that'll get us to 8-8 so....
