It's official.
Earlier this morning the rumors started coming out that Tony Romo would not play today against the Arizona Cardinals. Now it's official, he is out and Brandon Weeden will start. Apparently, it was Romo's call and he made it last night. Brandon Weeden, who took the first string reps all week in practice, will have to step in and lead the Cowboys in their quest to get back on the winning side of the ledger after last week's loss to Washington.
Not only is Romo out for today, there are serious questions as to him playing next week's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. If Romo misses that game, he will be out for three straight weeks, Dallas has a bye the week after the London game. Following that the Cowboys have an NFC East game with the New York Giants on November 23rd.
Brandon Weeden looked pretty good in limited time against Washington, and has been taking first string snaps on every Wednesday practice of the season. He should be prepared for the game, now can he execute?
