The latest news on the Cowboys injuries, including Dez Bryant.
Jason Garrett used his Thursday press conference to update the status of some of the injuries the team is facing. The big one to address was the status of Dez Bryant. Garrett said that Dez did a good job working on the side yesterday, did some individual stuff and they hope that he will be able to do more today. He gave no indication about whether the team thought he would be able to play on Sunday.
[UPDATE] Bryant commented on his condition.
“It felt good,” Bryant said. “Of course, it’s something minor. But at the same time, even if I didn’t go Sunday, this is much needed. I need to get that work in and I need to be ready to go whenever I get back. So it was much needed.”
“Don’t have to worry about making it worse, which I feel like I can’t at this point,” Bryant said of the possibility of sitting a third consecutive week. “It’s only getting better. What we’ve got going on here is extremely amazing, and you don’t want to force anything.”
Morris Claiborne turned his ankle in practice yesterday, but Garrett said they don’t think it’s serious. He did not indicate if he would practice today.
Garrett responded to a question about DeMarcus Lawrence’s ability to play more by saying he had a good practice yesterday, and the he would hopefully do more today. He did say he was hopeful that he will play more plays this week than he did last week.
The team is not resting Tyron Smith during the week. Garrett’s philosophy is if he is able to practice they want to get him his reps. So they will not be sitting him out, even though he is listed as limited in practice.
There was no update on Orlando Scandrick, Chaz Green, Kyle Wilber or David Irving. Lance Dunbar has already been ruled out this week by Jerry Jones, who commented on that almost immediately after the Bengals game.
