I wouldn't be one to complain if he were to be retained as our #1 backup QB. Of course, it's entirely possible that with Dak being so young and Rush being capable to start somewhere by then, a change could be forthcoming. In any case, we're apparently well set for now.

There are other options available, such as Kellen being hired as an assistant QB coach or relegated to the PS. Needless to say, his being cut surely isn't out of the question either, even though Linehan's heart might be broken.

If we fail to achieve satisfactory results in 2017, it'll likely be due to a faulty defense before the blame goes to Dak Prescott.

He is a backup QB have not seen the franchise playmaker at this point in time. It will be scary with him as the lone backup during 2017, I will not worry about this decision as the coaches know infinitely more about his issues than we ever could reading media stories and their jobs are on the line with this choice unlike our opinions.
