Lots of twists and turns to this story.

Joseph Randle will not be active for this week's game against the Seattle Seahawks. It's a good thing Darren McFadden came to life last week, just in time to be the starter for the foreseeable future. Randle has the oblique muscle injury and that was already a cause for concern in terms of his being active this week. But that's not the only thing going on. Randle was supposed to be rehabbing his injury at Valley Ranch yesterday when he left the facility. That sent the speculation machine into overdrive. Was he upset that McFadden was named the starter? Did it have something to do with a possible suspension by the NFL front offices?

Jason Garrett didn't fully clear up the mystery, but said that Randle leaving practice was not because he was upset or because of the possible suspension coming his way, but because he had to take care of a personal issue. Garret made it clear that it was an excused absence and that Randle needs to work through the personal issues before he'll be ready to go. He also needs to rehab the injury.

Reports are circulating that Randle could face a suspension from his arrest in the offseason in Wichita, Kansas.

Randle met with NFL investigators this summer and again within the past week, and the NFL determined that he violated the league's personal conduct policy, which will carry consequences. In a best-case scenario, Randle will be fined. More likely, he'll be suspended, possibly for multiple games, for a February incident in Wichita, Kansas, in which Randle was arrested for unlawful possession of marijuana after police received a call about domestic violence with a weapon after an incident with Randle and the mother of his son.

Randle will not play on Sunday and it appears that his absence could be longer than initially anticipated. Christine Michael might finally get more snaps this season as he would be in line to back up McFadden. The Cowboys also have the recently acquired Rod Smith on the roster.
