A cat literally ran across the field during this week’s Thursday Night Football contest, but it seems like it’s someone else that has nine lives these days. Quarterback Kellen Moore is back with the Cowboys, on the team’s practice squad.

The Cowboys released Moore for the second time this season on Thursday afternoon. The writing was somewhat on the wall for this move as undrafted free agent quarterback Cooper Rush was active ahead of Kellen last Sunday in San Francisco.
It was Rush’s emergence during the preseason that served as the latest catalyst among fans calling for the Cowboys to release Moore. When word leaked that Kellen still had practice squad eligibility left, many thought this was a marriage made in heaven as the move would allow Kellen’s abilities in the film room to stay working for the Cowboys.
Roster shuffling in the NFL can sometimes be an interesting process, and this is the latest example of it. What many thought would happen a long ago didn’t until it ultimately did. That’s how football goes.
