Looks like Jerry Jones pulled it off.

Reports are pouring in from sources everywhere that the Dallas Cowboys have signed La'el Collins. The LSU offensive tackle went undrafted because he was wanted for questioning in the death of an ex-girlfriend. He was subsequently cleared of any suspicion and was free to sign with any team. Jerry Jones and the Cowboys put on a full-court press in bringing Collins to the owner's residence and those efforts look to have paid off.

The Cowboys pitched Collins on the idea of forming the "greatest offensive line ever", something that certainly could be in play once Collins is inserted into the lineup. It is still to be determined where he will fit in the Cowboys lineup, but the two weakest links along the offensive line are left guard Ron Leary and right tackle Doug Free. Either of those positions could be in play. With the signing of Collins and the addition in the draft of Chaz Green and Laurence Gibson at tackle, plus veteran Mackenzy Bernadeau in the wings, the Cowboys will certainly have depth to go along with a sparkling starting unit.

The Cowboys have now scored the equivalent of three first-round picks from the 2015 draft, with two of those possible top-15 picks if not for off-the-field circumstances.

Congrats to Charean Williams for breaking the story.

Per source, La'el Collins' 3-year deal is worth about $1.7 million. It's fully guaranteed, which is believed to be unprecedented for a UDFA.
