Let’s hope Amari Cooper has a repeat performance.

This Sunday night will mark the first game of significance between the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles since 2015. That’s a big deal.

Sunday night will indeed be big. This particular rivalry will be making its 10th appearance on NBC’s Sunday Night Football this week in as many years, and who’s blaming the networks when people always tune in for it? The Cowboys and Eagles hate each other.

There’s so much hype around the first Cowboys and Eagles meeting of the season that Philadelphia is even breaking out their special black jerseys for the occasion. You know it’s important when someone is dressing up, right?

The last time that the Eagles wore these get-ups wasn’t that long ago, although the Cowboys weren’t there. They donned this look in Week 16 of the 2017 season and while Dallas wasn’t there, their new wide receiver Amari Cooper was as a member of the silver and black.

Cooper didn’t set any records or anything that Monday night in Philly, but he did have a great game. He started things off with a 63-yard touchdown and had another 45-yard catch that came back because of an offensive holding call. That can’t hurt the Cowboys chances this week.

Last time Amari Cooper played in Philadelphia it was also a night game on primetime where the Eagles wore their black jerseys like they will this Sunday. He also had himself a nice day (offensive holding on the second play). Here’s hoping that bodes well. pic.twitter.com/G2lYO93BRl

On the first play you can see that Cooper smokes Jalen Mills. He actually put such a sharp move on the Eagles cornerback that he almost made himself fall down. Thankfully he quickly regained his balance and made his way towards the endzone with nobody around him.

It is worth mentioning again that there was an offensive holding call against Gabe Jackson on the second play here, but Cooper did find himself behind the Eagles defense in almost the exact same spot where he scored earlier. We all got to see Cooper’s route-running ability on display for the Cowboys this past Monday night, nobody’s questioning it, and so it definitely bodes well that he’s hurt the Eagles fairly recently with it. Cooper finished that game with 66 yards to go along with his touchdown, his third-best yardage performance of last season.

The last road game that the Cowboys won came in Philadelphia during last season’s finale for Dallas. Coincidentally, the only touchdown of the day was scored by a Dallas Cowboys wide receiver that wore #19, Brice Butler.

Here’s hoping that the new number 19 wide receiver for the Cowboys can help them repeat their last outing in Philadelphia while also channeling the one he last had against them under the lights against those black jerseys. Coincidences are a crazy thing.
