Maliek Collins returned to practice over a week ago and is working on getting into game shape. Is Collins starting right when he gets back? Would think that he needs time to get up to speed but who knows
He probably won't open the season as a starter, but it shouldn't be much of a wait.
Collins will probably be the third tackle in the rotation to open the season and see snaps at UT and NT.Wait, so if Crawford starts at DT does that mean Collins is going back to the 1Tech?
It doesn't matter, Husker can play either spot in Rod Marinelli's defense.
Dallas opened last season with 8 DL on the roster in week one, but also had 2 LB/DE tweeners in Kyle Wilber and Jayrone Elliott, special teamers who could help if things got dire. The Cowboys finished the season with 10 DL on the roster. That article states that we started the 2016 and 2017 seasons with 8 defensive linemen... that doesn't sound right to me. Don't we usually have like 10 or 11 at least?
Marinelli likes to rotate 8 DL during games if he has that many horses and injuries allow them all to dress. Keeping 10 Rushmen is preferred, but the number can go up or down depending on various factors throughout the season.
