The Dallas Cowboys will come out of their bye week with one of the top records in the NFL thanks to a five-game winning streak. It’s hard not to be pleased with how well this team is playing, but that doesn’t mean everything is a bed of roses for America’s Team. In fact, there are a lot of areas the team could use improvement. I mean, what team doesn’t have that? But if this team plans on doing some real damage in January, it would behoove them to get some things cleaned up.

I've been saying this for the longest. If we put eight players on the line of scrimmage and the defense puts nine players on the line of scrimmage. Then our RB has to get by seventeen players to pick up one yard. You wonder why we struggle in all short yardage situations, because the coaches are illiterate.

And as far as us giving up big chunk plays...spend some money or draft capital on safeties. We just can't kept putting sixth rounders and undrafted players back there and think everything's going to be fine.

The short yardage issue is not going away, IMO unless they change their play calling. Against NE I didn't think Zeke looked 100% healthy. Usually he hits the pile pretty hard and drives someone back a couple of feet at least. Against NE he looked a little soft running into the line. He has had a leg injury so maybe that was it. Otherwise I think the problem is really Williams and Biadasz. They get no push on the DL and that is a problem if you need to get a yard behind them. One solution is to run behind Martin and Steele. Fake the run at Williams and throw. Be more creative

As for the chunk plays, it is not just the plays that were made it is also the plays that failed. How many times have we seen wide open receivers either drop passes or the QB missed them against Dallas? Too many. The Eagles, Giants, Patriots, Panthers. All those games had plays like that. Who knows if any of those plays could have changed the outcome of the game. The point is it is a huge problem and the Cowboys are kind of lucky they have not paid more for their mistakes.

I think we will see the Cowboys pay more for the defensive problem than they will for the short yardage problem in the games coming up.
