The walking wounded are getting back into action.
It’s been a long time since Morris Claiborne has practiced in anticipation of actually playing a game. That’s what happened today as Claiborne joined his teammates for practice as the Dallas Cowboys prepare for the Divisional Round next weekend. Claiborne hurt his groin toward the end of the game against the Philadelphia Eagles on October 30th and hasn’t played since. The Cowboys expect he’ll play in the first playoff game.
The Cowboys also saw reinforcements along the defensive line turn up for action. DeMarcus Lawrence, Tyrone Crawford and Cedric Thornton all practiced today. Lawrence says he’ll probably need back surgery again, but will play through it in the playoffs. It’s not clear how much these players will actually participate in practice, they could just go through individual drills for now, but it’s a step in the right direction for them to be available next weekend.
Notably absent from practice were Tyron Smith and Terrell McClain. Both are still rehabbing their injuries, a knee for Smith and an ankle for McClain. Additionally, Tony Romo missed practice because of illness.
